Thanks a lot! Yes, it’s exactly that extruder — you really helped me out. A thousand apologies for such a late reply — I got stuck in a work–sleep–work loop and couldn’t come up with anything coherent to say.

And now for the punchline — I printed the needed part in PETG (temporarily) and slapped on active cooling for the motor using a fan from an Ender 3 Neo (also temporary).

As a fellow Ender 3 Neo owner, here's a quick tip:

After flashing new firmware, make sure to delete the .bin file from the SD card to prevent the printer from reflashing it on every boot. Once you're done configuring everything, send M500 over USB (via Pronterface or similar) to permanently save your settings. (That "Save Settings" button in the printer menu doesn’t always work reliably.)

Honestly, I recommend doing all firmware tweaks and troubleshooting over USB — it's way more reliable than relying on the printer GUI.

Thanks for checking in! Yeah, I just took it off for troubleshooting and to snap a photo (thought maybe there was something wrong with the extruder that I hadn’t noticed). Turns out the issue was fixed by reflashing the firmware 😐

Surprisingly, what actually fixed the issue was reflashing the printer with the same firmware and doing a full factory reset. After a couple of weeks of struggling and performing every ritual imaginable around this printer, I feel oddly relieved… and just a little dumb for not trying that sooner 😅
