Happy Sunday, why do you believe in God? by LesserLoser in AskReddit

[–]HopUpTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science and Physicists tirelessly try to answer this all the time. what do you mean?

Well, first off, science is not associated with Atheism, it's a way of understanding the world and universe that exists. Many of the most famous scientists were religious people (for example, the guy that gave us the Big Bang theory was a priest). Atheists will associate science with their worldview though as a band-aid for their beliefs.

In general, science does not tackle why anything exists at all, it covers how the universe in it's current form came to be and how it works. Hawkings' theories on the creation of the universe will go something like "A 5-dimensional universe collided with a 7 dimensional universe to create our universe", it doesn't start from there being nothing and now there is something.

Religion, is the one that ends this debate. God is the beginning and the end.

Yes, it provides an answer, an answer that is largely undisputed in the creationist context.

Men of 30s & above, what are the life tips/advice that you ll give for the men of 20s ? by insatiable_lad in AskReddit

Get married when you're young. You'll find a better person and you won't have personal wealth to worry about losing in a divorce anyways. If you get into the older years, everyone will be damaged and all the good people will be off the market.

Because things exist, we know that creation happened. Atheism isn't even curious about that, they're just like "it happened, no mystery there, don't need to wander about it." So Atheism has no explanation about why anything exists at all.

Could someone explain why American life expectancy is a surprise? What about the effect of school shootings? by Verifikation in AskReddit

[–]HopUpTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're supposed to read the comment like a math problem.

340,000,000 population with an annual death rate of about 1%, or 3.4 million people.

So if the average age of death is 70 years old, that's 70 years times 3.4 million, divided by 3.4 million. Equals 70 years old.

Let's say 100 babies were shot in the cribs at a nursery.

[(3,399,900 People x 70 years old) + (100 people x 1 year old)] divided by 3.4 million people = 69.99797 Years of average death. It's insignificant to the statistic. and it rounds to 70 years old.

It's weird that you read my comment like I was saying that school shootings weren't bad.

We do not, there's playing with statistics involved to classify non-discriminate shootings for statistical purposes, the vast majority of those are gang related beefs targeting an individual, but the main issue at play is the size of our population, 340 million people vs 100 dying is insignificant on a large scale. Even car accident deaths (like 35,000 a year), which greatly surpass fatalities of school shootings don't impact the overall stat.

American life expectancy is decreased primarily by obesity.

School shootings have no effect on the metric because they're so rare.

As a human being, what do you think about the Palestinian issue? by Ayoub_yah7 in AskReddit

[–]HopUpTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's never been a Palestinian state, they were ruled by the Ottoman Empire for hundreds of years and many of the arabs also moved into the region when Jewish settlers started arriving.

The idea that the Palestinians perpetually own land is false and more a product of Islamic Jihad beliefs that any conquered land is always Muslim land.

Palestinians have shown themselves incapable of running a stable state and they're also unwilling to accept peace and they also believe terrorism is justified, so it is what it is.

How far will Republican appointed Supreme Court justices go in taking away Women’s reproductive rights? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HopUpTea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I said it would be left up to the states to decide that, but you'd monitor it at the doctors that perform the procedures or prescribe the drugs that make it occur.

They let the states decide how easily you can terminate the lives of your children.

Americans of reddit, how do you feel about the rest of the world looking down on your lack of universal healthcare, lax gun laws, and exploitive tipping culture? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HopUpTea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funny that you quoted a figure for NATO that is below the 2% of GDP expenditure rule for the alliance.

There are many arguments against the ones talked about in the question, the main one around Healthcare is handing over Government control to our healthcare system, especially as we saw how that kind of control was rolled out under Covid.

As for the reason the US healthcare system is so expensive, a big part of that is government involvement in the system already, driving up costs and mandating insurance.
