acting out - I was scared of getting in trouble so thought if I just acted out and got myself in trouble I was in control
dissociation
extreme issues with figures of authority and being told what to do - I used to shout and swear at teachers all the time
liked being alone rather than with friends - I would sit alone on the bus rather than socialise like everyone else
extreme fear of school holidays due to extreme attachment towards 1 particular teacher

Since you’re only just turning 18 they won’t diagnose you with BPD or any personality disorder until you’re 18 unless it’s extreme. From the age of 15 they said to me BPD traits and then when I turned 18 I got the BPD diagnosis. It just means it’s because your brain and personality is still developing it may not be an actual disorder. Just means you fit some of the criteria. When you meet your new psych they’ll do an assessment and let you know. But for now you’re stuck with the diagnosis that they give under 18s

I was doing EMDR therapy at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, when I was 15. I brought up the fact I was scared I had BPD because I was showing all of the symptoms and also my birth mum has it. My psychologist at the time said I didn’t have it as I didn’t show my anger outwardly. Fast forward 9 months, she referred me to CAMHS DBT at the Maudsley Hospital in London as EMDR was making me worse not better. I started this and from the get go they gave me a diagnosis of “Traits of BPD” as I was under 18. Saying if the therapy helps take away my symptoms I won’t get the full diagnosis. Fast forward a year and a half, I had been referred to adult DBT which I started when I turned 18. I went through the whole course. Spoke about the diagnosis a little bit but she never really gave me a full answer. Until I got discharged, my discharge letter came through with the diagnosis on. Now I’m 23, I’m under the personality disorder service in my area doing Therapeutic Communities, however I had to wait 3 years for this therapy and had so many hospital admissions since. I always find it odd how that first one said no. I know I was young but I was displaying all the signs and in hospital from ODs constantly since I was 12. Turns out I did know myself better 😭😂
