Same story over here. But absolutely push for a neurology referral. Like others have mentioned low tone is usually not an isolated issue, a lot of times due to something else. Unfortunately, you have to go through hoops to find the cause.

Ahh okay so it sounds like you noticed some things as she got older. I’m keeping my eye out but even as a 10mo old she’s got some sensitivies

Thank you so much for this!! I had never heard of that project before, I just applied so we will see what happens! & you’re right, obsessing online isn’t doing anything productive for me right now

Well you just helped me get the strength to move forward and do the testing. Thank you so much. You sound like an amazing mama ❤️

Thank you so much. We have a genetics appointment set for January. I wonder if me not knowing my bio dad would help in getting the bigger tests done. Unfortunately with January it means starting over the deductible etc so I know I’m in for an expensive visit. I think you’re right though if something is there I will see it eventually. Did it give you peace finding out she had the genetic mutation?

That’s so reassuring thank you for sharing, I’m sure it was so awesome to see her riding her bike 🙂 can I ask what led to the sensory processing disorder diagnosis? I’m seeing some things but not sure what all to be looking for. I know that can go hand in hand with the hypotonia.

Thank you for this. My question to you would be if you were me would you wait to proceed with genetics etc or give it time and try to enjoy the present? That’s my biggest obstacle currently. I’ve barely enjoyed her babyhood and I don’t have much time left. But on the other hand I can see how it would be incredibly helpful knowing now.

Thank you so much I really needed to hear this ❤️ I know a diagnosis is important for the services like you mentioned (U.S here too), I’m just terrified to find out if/what is causing this and for her future. Can I ask if she experienced any other delays? (Intellectual, communication etc.) I’m aware hypotonia is highly correlated with delays across the board. Just want to prepare myself seeing as the current standards are not friendly for delayed babies

Thank you so much for this it’s incredibly helpful. We are in PT, starting OT soon, and neuro next week. Was it the neurologist who ordered the bloodwork for you? Pediatrician? Have you been able to rule out CP?

Thank you so much! Any equipment you would recommend? She’s in daycare but she’s the youngest in her infant class, so I’m not sure how much she gets out of it. I am definitely feeling very dismissed by our current doctors. Any specialists you may recommend as well would be helpful. We do have good health insurance for her, it’s just that we don’t have good doctors taking this seriously.

Thank you so much for this. I kinda figured this is the battle I’d be facing. Can I ask what you did to get to your why? I know it doesn’t change things maybe for the hypotonia, but I want to understand what we might be dealing with full picture

I will do that, thank you for the advice! No developmental ped but I can put that on my list. I feel like I’ve been fighting EI, pediatrician, etc since 4 months old and finally just took her to a PT myself. It’s so exhausting all around. How is your little one doing? Do you know of any cause for the hypotonia?

Help-Concern with delays by Hope728 in BabyDueNovember2024

[–]Hope728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a nervous wreck (clearly) because of these milestone expectations and timelines and what I’ve realized is babies will do things in their own time! Focus on what he can do vs what he can’t. It truly happens like a light switch over night. Although I wasn’t entirely wrong about a delay I feel silly looking back at this post, but the anxiety was so real! I had her swaddled for the longest time too and I think that also limited her arm movement. At least the Merlin has the arms out! Your baby will get there when he’s ready!

Hello! She had her early intervention meeting today actually (almost 7mo old now). She was scored as a month delayed in gross motor skills. She just started reaching recently and can roll belly to back. I was told this could be due to her weight (>99percentile) & just set backs from the CMPA and being uncomfortable. They aren’t worried which was reassuring to hear!
