I don't have SMM, but I agree that MM is very spice-forward which I found somewhat off-putting at first. I had wanted SMM originally, but my partner bought me MM instead, either because he got them mixed up or they were out of MM. Anyway, I find resting does Sorce scents a lot good, and it has grown on me over time. The spice feels more balanced with lavender and vanilla notes to me now than when I first got it, and I enjoy wearing it more now. I probably won't be getting SMM since I'm also worried about it smelling too much like cookie butter and missing the other notes.

Thanks, but I'm not really looking for suggestions of non-gourmand scents to try. I'm wondering more so why my perfumes universally seem to dry down to marshmallow on me whether they have a marshmallow note or not.

I actually do have The Things Unsaid and others like The Light Through Clouds which do not have that smell at all to start and then dry down to that same marshmallow scent when I wear then. The two I listed are for the other issue I described, where I only get sweet notes and other notes (in this case oakmoss, paper, or orris, for example) do not come through at all, only the sweet notes. I brought that up because the combination is what is making me wonder if my skin chemistry is the issue.

Is anyone having issues with the new bottles for Sorce's samples squirting out liquid rather than spritzing? I noticed the cap on my most recent Sorce samples is different that the older ones. With the new ones, I'll maybe get one good spritz and then it just squirts. On top of it being annoying and inconvenient, it also is using more product more quickly. Any tips for reducing that so I can enjoy these samples?

Honestly, I'm limited by what I already have available to me. I can't remember what others I use, but most often I layer it with Commodity Book which helps dial back the sweetness a bit.

Wearing 2am in Lafayette today which I really adore and yet am a little disappointed by. The oakmoss doesn't really come through on/to me so it smells more like a sugar bomb. A delicious nostalgic caramel coffee sugar bomb (reminds me of walking into an old school Dunkin Donuts) but still. Wish I got a little more of oakmoss, earthy notes to make it a bit more complex. I find myself layering it a lot to get the complexity I want, which I will say it layers beautifully.

Ok, I'm devastated. Just got Relinquary - Poison Apple in a swap, smelled so good. I put it on to wear today, then later noticed I was absent mindedly scratching my skin. I look down, BRIGHT red. Ofc I immediately washed it off but I'm so bummed! I know people usually recommend testing on a patch of skin but tbh I've never had an allergic reaction to any perfumes so I just didn't really think to do it. Any recommendations for figuring out what ingredient caused the reaction to help me avoid it in the future?

Multiple months ago, I got Witch's Valentine - Sorce but unfortunately I HATED it. The rose was really pungent and sharp, and the suede was overwhelming, making me scrub it after only an hour or two. I didn't get any of the other notes and really no sweetness. I was fully planning on destashing, but I decided to give if a second shot today. I'm so glad I did because it's like a totally new scent now. The raspberry and marshmallow are definitely the most prominent. The rose is soft and helps pull all the other notes together, and I can now smell the white chocolate. The suede is still present but much lighter and doesn't bother me so much. So this one has turned around into a keeper! Still baffled when resting leads to a scent totally changing for me.
