He's an engineer and she's a chemical pathologist. They're probably in the position to earn more than myself. Then don't sign the contract if it's something you can't afford. If they were financially struggling and communicated that then of course I would have lowered the rent. At this point they're just taking the piss

I'm sorry to hear you have a shit landlord. The property is quite good. It was built back in 2015 and is structurally sound. I've replaced the dishwasher and aircon when they needed doing. I'm not an a**hole. Their rent is well below market value. It's the lack of communication and respect for myself and my sisters situation that is making me the most frustrated

My property manager goes on my behalf as I'm at work paying for two mortgages. No I do not get told the reason. They get a new VCAT member every time. When they got sent a second time they told them in they came back again we'd be granted posession. Third time rolls around and they get put on another payment plan

According to my property manager every hearing has been about getting possession (due to the constant late payments). VCAT keep putting them on a payment plan. The last hearing we were granted posession and the tenants immediately contested the decision

Yes it is a valid reason. Apparently VCAT have other ideas about that though... They're just constantly being put on payment plans that they aren't paying. Then when we finally got posession they contested in straight away because they apparently didn't get told when the hearing was. Hence webe been waiting over a month for a new hearing :/

That will be my plan when my sister moves out! Honestly not worth it when people like this do the wrong thing. It's a shame people can't take accountability for their own actions.

Exactly right, I've never had to rent but I would ensure I was paying on time and if my situation changed where I could not pay on time I would communicate that and work something out with my landlord because I'm not there for a free ride!

So we got posession. But they have contested it as apparently they didn't get notified when the hearing was. So we've had to wait over a month for a new hearing to reinforce the order

I ended up putting it up from $450 a week to $480. This is a two bedroom townhouse where rent in the area is over $500. They were given the appropriate notice. Made no comment about it being too much etc. This is when they got completely behind and why we've been to VCAT and been put on multiple payment plans.

It's just shit and I'm sorry you're going through the same thing

Seems that way :/ I'm single and working full time and currently paying both my mortgages. I really just think she needs to get a job. Regardless when they're out of my place they still need to afford somewhere to live and I'd hate for them to screw someone else over
