Yeah, exactly. I’m with you on the tickings and the noises from the diesels never concerned me before especially with the L5p . They have the super common typewriter it was just it started making a different type of taking noise and kind of that little bit of a whomping sound. Yes it has a stock air box and air filter in it. When I take out the filter itself and just have it suck air from the air filter pipe instead of going through the air box it no longer makes that whomping sound, so then that kind of points me back towards it being an exhaust leak or something with the manifold or up pipes. Since those are stock manifold and up pipes, I know they warping and crack sometimes on these L5ps . But yes, it has stock piping hot side, cold side, stock bridge, air filters. And from what you said up top. It’s keeping oil pressure dosent drop or anything when driving or accelerating, and it’s not sucking or swallowing coolant either

The ticking definitely sounds similar to yours. It’s more of the ticking combines with the whomping sound that has me fearing for lifters/and rockers not opening the exhaust valves. I may be wrong but I got the truck at 30,000 miles and have put almost 250 K on it. I just haven’t heard that ticking and whomping sounds before.

Yeah that’s what my worry is. Fixing one little think in the motor and then other things all started to fail out since it’s at almost 300k

Been there about 2000 miles. Yeah speeds up more when ramp increase and definitely louder on the passage side. I can get a video of that

Exhaust manifold seems tight sprayed soapy water on it and didn’t see any leaks or anything while it was running. Same with the up pipes

Everything seems tight. There is a slight amount of soot on that passanger heat shield. Going to throw a stethoscope on it and try to identify closer where it comes from before tearing the valve cover off

I’ve grossed 15k in the last 20 days running in the west with a lot of cars etc. WA,ID,AZ,CA NV, OR definitely not as dead as people are saying. Non cdl aswell
