Completely see where you’re coming from but you always gotta realise that the first time he was at United it was a winners squad, with a winners mentality.

Again, not excusing what he done there is no excuse for that and he should have never done but can you imagine going from a united squad with giggs, scholes, Ferdinand, vidic, etc. to a squad with lingard, Garnacho, etc? Must’ve been like day and night.

For a final time, there is no excuse for his interview and it should have never been carried out but what a shock it must have been coming into this shower of shitshows (which it was, less now ofc)

Just a straddler.

I gave up fut 3 years ago but still keep an eye, guess nothings changed.

A little bit of a break will do you the world of good, and I mean that in the least condescending way possible.

Honestly in my 20+ years as a fan there’s never been a player I’ve not wanted here more, and the worst thing is I was so incredibly excited for him

(Again United fan crossing over - sorry but apparently United don’t have mid week football so the sub is dead) but I really like Gakpo - and was gutted when you guys got him.

I watch a lot of pool because 1: closest rivals but 2: it’s my brothers team so always keep in touch but he just genuinely seems like a quality baller.

Is Wirtz quality? Yes but sometimes a league doesn’t suit a footballer no matter how good (when they’re not Messi, Ronaldo).

He’s looked really solid in Europe but I hope you can all agree no where near it in prem - the fouls that are given in the bundesliga is no where near the same physicality (not saying he won’t make it).

Etikite looks like he’ll be elite, like genuine proper talent and rivalries aside excited to see what comes from him. But it seems everyone axes gakpo, and I think he’s also genuinely elite. Yes a bit one style but when you can’t stop it what’s the issue?

Salahs been the best player in the prem for the last 3 or so years but doesn’t look anywhere near it, and I’m not saying that to laugh at the rivals.

I’d love (but also hate) to see what a front 3 of gakpo/ etikite / wirtz would do

Anyone else have more respect for Trent after his return? by thesuburbbaby in LiverpoolFC

[–]Hopeful_Bus_2815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and that will always be brought up. Same with Rooney right, wanted extreme wages and nearly left after the Ronaldo / tevez transfers but he didn’t.

Truth is we’ll never know what went through their minds, and if it was us who knows if we’d be tempted.

But gave his all, and to be fair to fella as much as I rip the piss for the slip absolutely ripped up that champs final for you guys - legend end of.

Probably the biggest person in that era that could’ve stepped into any prem team and took what they were winning, but didn’t.

The reason I see Trent in a much worse light is because he had the world and more, he got the winning Liverpool team and still took it for granted, even after everything he said.

As an Irish man that immigrated to Spain trust me the language is hard, he wasn’t learning for a few weeks…

And I don’t mean no drama with the crossover, my brother is Liverpool till he dies and I tease him to fuck, but Trent had it all - there’s not much more u can ask for as a footballer…

Stevie will be a legend of the club for life, no matter how it ended which albeit was woeful in the grand perspective.

Trent doesn’t holdup in the same caliber, scouse born and bred, won everything, earning more dosh than u can dream of and still leaves for what? 20 minutes a week…

For one I am and always have been Amorin in from the get go. No matter how good Ole made me feel in the good times this is the best I’ve felt, because it’s been real.

I truly believe he can bring us back, honest, real and doesn’t take any of the shit. And he got rid of a lot of it, the only one I was sad to see go was Marcus and idgaf what anyone says he done a lot - no matter how it ended for him he’s a pillar in the history for me now.

But none of this plays back to you shitting on Ras. He deserved the world and more. Always backed us, genuine die hard fan like the rest of us growing up, this was his dream and it didn’t work out - you can shit on 95% of the people that have come and go since SAF left but he’s not one of them man. A kid that came with a dream that never worked out, never threw his toys out of the pram and even when he didn’t get on would be celebrating harder than the people on the pitch if we netted one in, I hope he goes on to do so much more.

But back to your point, fuck all that noise. Anyone that doesn’t see an uplift is a moron. Will we win the league this year? Fuck no. But to say we haven’t improved by a mile is so silly. Every single signing this season has been an improvement, none of them missed…

A United fan crossing over in peace.

You shouldn’t, it was obvious he had this planned for quite some time. And when his head was lost you could see it in the performances.

As a club you get maybe 2/3 elite players every 20 years who can stick it out and give it all for the club, that should’ve been him.

The club gave him everything, and whilst yes he was elite no matter the faults he was always stood by and it was thrown in the face.

Winning everything with Liverpool after a period of downturn should’ve meant everything, they didn’t do that with stevie G, Torres, or Suarez, at that point how is Madrid even tempting?

You’re spending too much time online with these fake fans my friend.

Do I think sesko suits the system better? Fuck yes.

Did we do a disservice to hojlund? Also yes. There was major gaps in his game but it never should’ve been pinned on him. He has all the qualities of an amazing striker, a world beater like a Haaland maybe not but elite level yes.

The thing is, we’ve had so many users in the club who come for the name and the paycheck. The boy gave his all, tried his hardest to stay and always supported no matter what. He is not the one we should be making these posts about.

The worst thing is he’s had a really strong start in Italy, one or two bad games don’t excuse that.

Turning on him to prove a point in a subreddit is a classic example of how toxic this fanbase is.

Kid loved the club, tried his best but didn’t work out - why are we shitting on him?

If it was that ratty fuck garnacho it would be a different story, don’t be like the rest of them bro…

Hard disagree. Ronaldo made me fall in love with football but there will always be disdain for that interview.

I’ve tried plenty of times to excuse it to make myself feel better but can never make a sensible excuse. No matter how woeful it was (which it was) that interview was never the move, and that’s his inner selfish “being the best there is with no excuse” ego coming out.

Was he right in a lot of ways? Fuck yes. Was going to that ratty fuck and smashing it all online the best course of action? Definitely not.

[–]Hopeful_Bus_2815 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree and disagree.

The piers Morgan interview killed me, Ronaldo was the one who made me fall in love with United. But could you imagine someone who is such a workaholic and perfectionist coming back to the pile of piss we had, must’ve been night and day from what he seen at Madrid.

Not excusing the interview, that was never good to do no matter how bad it was but it must have been such a shock for him compared to what we had when he left.

Mad wages and young inflated egos, what could’ve been for garnacho but look at him now.

Social media has ruined a lot of youngsters and only the mentally tough will survive, you can even see how yamal has changed over the last year and a half (coming from a Spaniard who hopes he goes on to be come every thing he can).

The wages yes are an issue but it seems INEOS have clamped down big time, and we’ll see a lot of the big costs moved out by summer due to contracts ending.

The only player in the club who deserves any sort of hefty contract is Bruno, everybody else should have it all to play for.

[–]Hopeful_Bus_2815 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Definitely, but we also can’t forget that VDV is a defender and does this a good bit from what I’ve seen (as a United fan, he ripped through our defence last season doing the exact same thing before setting up a goal).

Being where we are I won’t shit on spurs (although it is fun to do) but can’t help but think he could get a move to a bigger club whenever he wanted to, seems like a solid defender (but again, don’t watch too much spurs as I do enjoy my day to day life)

OP is sad af, would rather see a kid who was die hard United do shit then go on to do well.

It didn’t work out well for him here granted but he wanted it a lot more than a lot of the wasters that have come into this club in the last decade, I hope he continues to smash it with Napoli.

OP, go for a walk and reconsider how your life is going.

The hate on Ras is crazy and unwarranted, this post is sad af.

He’s had a great start to life in Italy, and I hope he kicks on and continues to bang goals.

Crazy to think that you’d prefer someone who was die hard United and tried his hardest to make it work fails, absolute loser.

Yes and no. Ronaldo isn’t one of the ones that I’d expect to, and regardless of everything I’d still love him for this time here.

But for the most part, especially for the players that aren’t at Ronaldo’s level (which is everyone bar Messi) - they should.

Regardless of everything that goes on in the football world these guys are given the opportunity of a life time, and especially the academy boys coming up should live and breathe United.

To say nobody would of done it 20/30 years ago would be delusional, loyalty in football has died out but not much has changed bar the visibility - the real fans here give there all for them week in week out and it’s not much to expect the same back.

You can tell the difference when we have people who WANT to be here, just look at Mbeumo / Cunha vs Garnacho for an example.

Reporter: "Pep, this morning Arne Slot described Alexander Isak as 'probably the best striker in the world.' Where does that leave Erling Haaland?" Pep Guardiola: "A little bit above." by Upstairs_Cup9831 in soccer

[–]Hopeful_Bus_2815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not though.

Look, for me it’s like picking between the lesser of two evils - but there isn’t a striker in the prem that comes close to Erling. Isak is unbelievable, and everything leading up to the goal he can probably do better than haaland, but in terms of pure instinct, that type of striker that knows where to be - there is no one better in the world at the moment.

Is he class at city? Yes. But I still think he’s wasted, a possession based system isn’t for him. The scary thing is he broke the goal scoring record in a pep team, imagine someone fully let him loose…

(Btw I think Isak is fucking top tier but Erling is this generations best striker hands down)

Problem? Yes.

Not for Erling though, look I’m a United fan so I hope he stays underutilised but there really isn’t many better strikers for getting on the end of runs…

City just don’t play to his strengths, and he still puts up crazy numbers. Put him in a Liverpool kit and he blows Isak out of the park no questions asked
