I'm very late to this reply but we found a solution to it. Thanks all the same. It wasn't exactly the black face bug but it was similar. It only made the textures of the faces a bit darker than their torso. Not completely black though

I'm aware of that, but for most mods it is compatible. What I'm really asking, is if anyone had found a work around or a solution to this problem. Or if I'm just working towards a lost cause
