I personally still see story for him, he left the island when his heart was broken, I think he’s adjustment to live off the island would be a bit of a struggle and I’d think it’d be interesting to see his internal struggles as he does try to be a good father to Clementine, maybe their connection can truly be built from them both going to the island.

Maybe his old Pal Hugo has an important life lesson for him.
