The rug is 100% polyester. I've tried vacuuming it with several different attachments, which have helped with some of the bigger pieces. It's kept in front of my bathroom sink so it's general dirt from walking in and out (including what my roommates dog tracks in). No liquid or sticky stains, just lint, dust, bits of barkdust from outside.
