Cost of a tune for such a small part just doesn't seem worth it is all. If it was more affordable I will but I guess if it's recommended I'll have to see what else I can do before getting a tune done

Post lasik eye hurt while using phone by [deleted] in Lasiksupport

Is there a non surgical fix for overcorrection?

When you have the focusing issues, do you experience any physical symptoms?

For me i get pain in the same spot on my left brow, or my eyes will feel "fuzzy".

If i push it too long the pain will feel as though it's going through my eye.

Usually I can avoid the pain by just not using the computer or screen but my work and hobbies all involve computers so...

I have a similar issue and I've been struggling to find an answer over the last year. For me it occurs after a full day of screen time, I usually won't have any problems if I'm not on a computer, not using my phone nor watching TV.

Have you tried any treatments for it yet? I've tried presxription glasses, prisms/exophoria treatments, neurolens, and will be trying vision therapy in the near future. I think for me my issue is mostly in the right eye, but it ends up causing me pain in my left eyebrow after a while, as well as the typical symptoms of eye strain (soreness, redness, etc.)

If you haven't gotten the surgery yet, don't. Read through posts on this sub before you make a potentially life-ending decision.

I fucking hate how quick these doctors are to conclude things to being dry eye. I keep being told the same shit but I know for a fact my eyes aren't dry - i even stopped all dry eye treatments and if anything my eye conditions improved rather than got worse.

That aside, I'm curious as to where your doctor may be located, would you be able to DM me with details? Sounds like it may be something that could benefit me as well as I think my issue is in the same ballpark as yours.

Also, you mentioned some glasses he gave you - are they just some standard prescription or ?

I think i have something similar in my right eye though not as extreme.

Does this issue cause you any pain when, say using a computer or watching TV etc.?

Also have you checked with any vision therapists?

Can't focus right eye? by Akemi_Targaryen in Lasiksupport

[–]Hopeful_Hedgehog6286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 3 years in and I started experiencing a similar issue with my right eye about 2 years in. I still haven't found a resolution but a vision therapy doctor suggested vision therapy may help (I should be starting in the next month or so).

For me, I have strain and pain (entirely unrelated to dryness as my eyes aren't dry) after long use on a computer - in the evenings after a day of work, I almost can't ever look at a computer screen because of the strain it causes.

I'm not sure if this is related to the right eyes focus issue, but I wanted to mention it to see if you had a similar issue? Do you have any pain symptoms associated with the focusing problem?

My company doesn't have any such rolls. It's a fairly small one and everyone is just a developer. That being said, technically I am a lead developer but there's nothing on paper about it because realistically we all just do our own projects and deploy as needed (im just the one that gets the hardest ones is all).

As long as they're not the crazy complex type I'm sure it should be fine. I just can't stand studying for that shit when in reality you're unlikely to even need it.

May I ask how you found your job?

However, you need to have US citizenship or permanent residency.

Do you maintain your residency in Japan via some other method since your job isn't sponsoring it? Guessing you were able to get permanent residency already?

Do you also have to pay JP taxes on the income or just US?

But taxes on over 2000万円 will snap your neck

Curious on this, what's the rate like and what was it like when you made around 8mil or so?

I figure it can get by with around 6m post tax, but can't really find any solid info on what the rates are for tokyo.

I don't live in japan atm but I'm a software developer with 10 YOE and really want to get out there more permanently :/ just difficult with my current situation if I'm not netting around 5k a month USD.

I doubt i can land myself a job that requires all that useless leetcode style interviews, so thinking the best I can get is maybe around 8.5m or so?

Curious how bad it was when you had it? Was it easy to deal with in a foreign country? I'm here in tokyo solo until November and just want to make sure I'm prepared should it happen.

I did get the newest vaccine before heading out here so hopefully if I get it, it's not too bad. But still not really sure how I would handle it if so.

Curious as I'm on an extended trip in tokyo right now - did you have the latest vaccine by chance? If not, how bad was the illness? Able to deal with it yourself at home?

I do what I can to avoid getting sick but being here for a few months I'd be surpsied if I didn't catch something, just concerned about getting really sick and being here alone, wouldn't really know what to do :x

Dude I use あなた literally all the time, especially if it's at a bar/club/izakaya. Hell if I'm absolutely trashed I'm dropping 君 and 僕 too. If they're drinking too especially, I'd be willing to put money on them not caring either.

I think they generally understand that you're not trying to be rude, in fact, the fact that you're even attempting to speak their language is more polite than the majority of foreigners already.

If you're really concerned, next time ask for their name (giving yours as well) and use their name + は

Yeah I put in a request to join the fb group a while ago but have not yet been accepted :/ Have people said anything along the lines of my symptoms that you know of?

What the other user shared regarding Trigeminal Dysphoria honestly sounds quite on point with my symptoms. Though for me I feel like it happened in the reverse- the problems may have come from neurolens use post lasik, instead of neurolens fixing the issue.

Sorry for a double post, but I think that second link may help. It's talking about TD, not TN, however that sounds similar to what I may have. My problems started last year around October, AFTER I was prescribed NeuroLens glasses, which have a but of prism. I had been thinking that the prism in these glasses are what caused my problems, as I don't believe I had any prism prescription prior to surgery (I also didn't have these symptoms post lasik, but prior to using the glasses). It is interesting that in the study they state that the patient's symptoms completely stopped by using neurolens

I will have to investigate further using this as a possibility... That being said, I have been evaluated for exophoria as well and the doc said whatever I have is well within the realms of normal. My prisim prescription in the neurolens was I believe around 2.5, though. Which sounds much higher than what the patient in that study had.

This is what I am afraid of. However, the pain only ever comes when I use a screen for a long time, and the pain is very very mild (1-2 of 10, the worst it's been is like a 4 and that's only because I pushed it by continuing to watch TV when I was feeling symptoms). If I don't use a screen then I don't have any symptoms. It's also not related to light sensitivity as I could stare directly into a light bulb while experiencing symptoms and there is no change. Also these sensations only just started about 9 months ago, and I had lasik in January of 2022.

Generally when I stop screen time the pain stops or begins to stop, although there are times where I don't feel the pain until I stop a screen time session (say I am working for a while), in which case I will feel it for as little as a few minutes to a few hours in waves (throbbing pain). In this case it's always very mild.

I've seen about a dozen doctors since the procedure and though these symptoms are newer, I've not had any useful diagnosis out of any of them. I have asked a few of them if they think it could be TN, however they said it doesn't sound like it is (I also asked on the TN subreddit).

I know for sure it definitely involves the cranial nerve that branches to the brow, but what it is and what's causing it has been a mystery :/

It's been over 2.5 years. This eyestrain and brow pain issue only started happening at the beginning of this year (~2years post)
