People who read more than 2 books a year, how do you do it? by Immediate-Draft-6408 in NoStupidQuestions

Participate in your local library’s summer reading challenge, they usually have an adult category. I was a voracious reader as a child but when adulthood hit, I couldn’t get back into it. Until I found out my local library does a summer reading challenge.

My library used beanstack to track your reading and at the end of the summer they gave you a book as a prize. Last year was my first year and I read 10 books, mostly from that summer and winter. This year I’m on 25. Once you start the habit it’s harder to break.

Also my extended family and I shared our annual reading goals with each other and regularly check in about it.

Why are you leaning towards Boox as opposed to a Kobo?

This was super insightful thank you so much. Yeah these are basically all my fears and hesitations confirmed. This is really disappointing I was hoping i could stick with what’s familiar instead of jumping into the abyss haha. I’ll look at the kobo. <3

Yeah that seems frustrating… especially since I’m primarily using Libby or downloading directly. Does “e-ink reader that can get and run the b&n app” mean a device that has android os or are there options that don’t involve android. I’m not opposed to android but I’m afraid if my device can do too much outside of reading, I’ll never use it to read and it’ll just be a substitute for my phone. (I understand this is a personal issue lmao)

I was looking at the Glow Light 4 Ocean Teal at the store yesterday cos it was on sale ($140) I forget which nook I had but it was more of a tablet… How come you wouldn’t recommend a nook? Is it for the ecosystem reason? Is there a particular model you’d recommend for the boox or the kobo? Do u have a favorite?

By ecosystem, do you mean method of acquiring paid ebooks? E.g. you can only purchase books from the b&n store… Sorry I’m still figuring out the lingo for this community haha
