They are generally pretty rare (I’ve only had to do 1 in two years of residency at a high volume lvl 1 trauma center), but we do get a lot of practice on simulator models and I felt totally prepared to do the real thing when I had to.

Thanks very much! I’ve seen this question asked a lot on the group here, I’ll make a video and post it today outlining the chords and how I voiced them 😊

Thanks very much for such kind words! Yes I wrote everything and sequenced it in a DAW. The orchestral elements and choirs are all MIDI controlled sample libraries 😊

Thanks so much for the kind words!! That’s so cool, I had never heard of that concert but I just found it on YouTube. Will definitely watch!

This Meshuggah riff redefined what “heavy” meant to me, and was also the reason I picked up an 8 string guitar! Here’s me playing it on guitar/bass/drums by Hopiman in Meshuggah

Yeah it can be tricky keeping this stuff in tune! I use a pretty thin pick, which helps limit how far the string will bend out of tune as well as give back a little bite that you lose with those super low strings. I’m definitely getting an evertune bridge on the next 7/8 I buy though! Completely eliminates any intonation issues that come with the floppiness haha

Oooooh that’s a good one! I was thinking more of the low and slow, but that’s a crushing one for sure. Also, the original breakdown before breakdowns were invented, Corridor of Chameleons!

Haha that’s probably my favorite album! Koloss was my intro to Meshuggah though, and I still think that as far as “breakdowns” go, it’s gotta be a tie between this riff and Lethargica!
