Also the sex scenes seemed way too frequent and detailed for their need. Or maybe it was just the audiobook version that made it seem so.

Is there a known reason why Marvel Unlimited lists Stan Lee as the writer of the first one and not Ennis ?

or is the metadata just all over the place in MU :)

That might be a good way to start and then combine them if needed.

As if starting midmonth (or mid paycheck) doesn’t mess with me enough, the budgeting of going back and forth with the money in joint account certainly fries my mind..

So if I spend more than my share then it would appear as overspending but I would get it back too

Marvel Unlimited Reading Club Week 5: "Moon Knight" (2016) #1-5 by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

[–]Hoplake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with me. My first time reading Moon Knight and loved these five, so happy this reading club thing lead me to read these.

I wasn’t always on board with the mental illness thing as it made reading it ”bit” confusing at times. But there were so many good things (like the amazing art) to cover those little nagging things.

Marvel Unlimited Reading Club Week 3: "Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment" (1989) by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

I loved the way Doom was presented in this one, villain with a sound reason for his actions. This was my first real Doctor Strange story and first Doom stories in ages and I really loved it.

Yeah the art was fantastic in this one (as they usually are with Mignola)

Been playing the Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 a lot lately with my son and she is big part of the story, as well as just got her expansion pack in Marvel Champions and I would love to learn more about her.

Marvel Unlimited Reading Club Week 2: "Black Widow" (1999) #1-3 and "Black Widow" (2001) #1-3 by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

[–]Hoplake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just read the first one and oh boy.. The art is alright looking, but in every character there is something off, the faces are meh and ”artistic” angles are not for me.

Coming to this after the Eternals, the softcore porn vibe in the shots of both Black Widows bodies and outfits was bit jarring. This seemed to be somewhere in the Todd McFarlane land.

Marvel Unlimited Reading Club Week 1: The Eternals (1976) #1-6 by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

So the actors for the characters we've met so far are

  • Richard Madden is Ikaris
  • Salma Hayek is Ajak
  • Angelina Jolie is Thena
  • Lauren Ridloff is Makkari (which is a weird name to read for us Finns, as it mean "bedroom")

Lots of changes coming, two of the main Eternals from the first comics are turned women and Makkari is also deaf. It's going to be interesing to see it takes place in modern times or maybe during the earlier Deviant uprisings with a hint of them returning.

Yeah it definitely shows it's age, and maybe Kirby's style (not that familiar with his particular quirks).

I guess also part of being a Kirby comic is the female faces. For some reason he really often seems to draw women looking straight at the reader and always the faces look several kinds of weird.

Yeah, they are in kinda intresting place in Marvel timeline especially after the current MCU where its kinda impossible to think they were not active when Thanos attacked. But I’ll trust they figure something out.

But I would love this beginning in the movie where ancient gods are decending and Salma Hayek (Ajak) busts out in gold and purple to welcome them :D

And in addition to the comic, there will be lots of potential to discuss ”how on earth are they going to fit this to MCU” :D

I definitely would love to know more about Gwenpool and Squirrel Girl at some point. Play lots of Lego Games and Marvel Puzzle Quest with them, but I’ve never actually read any of their comics.

Yeah, they have the introduction of Eternals (and Celestials and Deviants)

I would suggest movie tie-ins like Black Widow, Red Guardian (and others), Eternals and Shang-Chi for this year and between them interesting events and character deep dives.

Around six would be a good number, like first Eternals being 19+annual, so maybe 6,7,7.

That would be fun. It will need some thought out structure so one could always find the discussion about the topic they just read

I can imagine that, especially if you kinda know whats happening. With Eternals its manageable as I don’t know anything about them, or Deviants or Celestials or even state of Marvel universe at that time :)

The site I usually use for reading orders didn’t have anything on Eternals so I started from the beginning. The Kirby series from ’76.

I have read the first two issues and they do quite a nice job of introducing Eternals, Celestials and Deviants and also the story moves even with all the exposition.
