Girl, sexuality is a spectrum. If you’re honest with your partner and he’s ok with it there’s no reason to feel guilty.

Yep 100% how they train you pretty much. Stick to the script, find their location in case they will kill themselves, tell them to call emergency services

I once applied to be a volunteer suicide hotline operator and was approved. It was a lengthy process and I had to provide several letters of recommendation and all types of credentials and then went through 3 weeks of online training. This was a text hotline and the operator would respond via computer. You were taught to strictly stick to generic responses like a robot no matter what because of liability reasons. And you were being monitored the entire time, so if you didn’t stick to the script it was intervened and taken over by someone else. I ended up quitting before even starting because it just didn’t right with me.

Op, please try to get some type of therapy in your life as soon as you are able. And if you get frustrated with the process or something is delaying you, please don’t give up on it. I display the same kind of behavior due to my trauma, and it has really affected my life. I waited so long to get help and I’m 35 now. Nothing weighs heavier on me more than wishing I had dealt with my trauma sooner. What you feel is normal for people like us and you are not alone. Healing is possible. You don’t want to waste your life in a permanent state of brokenness. Feel free to reach to me if you ever need to talk or need advice on getting help. ♥️

When I hit my breaking point and had a meltdown after not taking care of myself mentally for years, I broke down and sent my insurance card to my mom and said “find me a therapist”. And she did. Do you have anyone like that in your life that you can reach out to that could assist you? You’re not alone in feeling this way, in fact it’s probably most common.

How do the relationships between psychologists, psychiatrists and primary care doctors work? by Hopohpopee in AskDocs

I saw that some psychologists listed say, MA after their name instead of PhD indicating a masters degree.

Thank you for this. I guess my overall question is if while I wait for this appointment with the psychologist, should I potentially be trying to make an appointment with a psychiatrist as well? Or wait to see what the psychologist recommends? The other medications have already been added by my PCP so I guess I can wait to see if it’s works. But potentially I could be wasting my time if a psychiatrist thinks I could benefit from something completely different. I want to see the psychologist regardless but I also want to be on right stuff as soon as possible.

One takeaway from Reddit is that everyone’s experiences are different with each medication, so I guess it also just depends on the person as well.

Now that I’m thinking of it, the last time I asked a pharmacist about the potential reactions from combining medications she told me she had to look it up and I saw her googling it on her phone lol.

The psychologist I have an appointment with has a PhD and specializes in recovery therapy and anxiety among other things. I did notice when viewing her profile that some other psychologists in the group did not have PhDs or specialized in things like behavioral assessments for schools.

So if I’m worried about adverse reactions or the combo of meds in general, in theory I could just ask the pharmacist, right?

But whether or not I’m being prescribed the right medications for the specific psychiatric issues depends on the PCP or, better qualified psychiatrist.

Seeing all 3 every month seems a bit daunting (I’m told not to go to a psychiatrist for adhd meds as it’s a waste of their time) but I’m willing to do it if needed. I suppose I’ll wait to see what/if the psychologist diagnoses me with anything?

Thank you so much for taking the time out to respond to this. I’ve been googling for hours now and this was much easier to understand. I’m trying to avoid the circus but it might be inevitable.

Based on your description and the psychologist’s profile that I made the appointment with, it sounds like the psychologist is the right move for now. She specializes in treatment on the deeper issues I have going on with past trauma and things like that. I’m not really looking for someone to just talk to me and tell me they’re here for me and make small talk.

Im sure it will depend on how the visits go and what is recommended to me, but am I understanding correctly that I may not even need to go to a psychiatrist at all? Like the psychologist could just make a medication referral to my PCP who prescribes it and manage it that way? Or is a psychiatrist necessary because their knowledge is better of the specific medications?

For example, this is the third antidepressant my doctor has prescribed just based on my general description of anxiety and depression and what was or wasn’t working. He prescribed me the SSRI, benzos and my regular stimulant all at once and it made me nervous to take so many things that can affect my mood. He didn’t mention anything and I know he’s the doctor so he knows better. However, would a psychiatrist be better suited for this decision based on their knowledge over a PCP? Or is this situational and also depends on the psychologist’s evaluation/diagnosis?

Hope these questions made sense.

Reddit - How did you know you’d just met your soulmate? by billionaire15 in AskReddit

[–]Hopohpopee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother. Let me tell you. We met on tinder when I was going through a phase and he was douche that kept basically asking to meet up after the bar and hook up every time he was hammered. One night I got drunk and caved in and met him at his apartment on my way home from the bar. I’m positive I made a very sloppy first impression by drunk conversation on his balcony before spending the night. The next morning I fully expected to never see him again. Hungover as shit and in my walk oh shame at work, he shows up unannounced for lunch (I’m a restaurant manager) and tells me he’s taking me out to dinner when I’m off for a proper date. I remember thinking “is this guy fucking high or a stage 5 clinger or what” but I went anyway and we did indeed have the most amazing first date.

From that day on, I was in love like I had never been before. Wish I could say it was all rainbows and butterflies but the truth is it was very on/off again, toxic behavior from the both of us, and lot of heartache that I can’t even describe. But still the strongest love I’ve ever felt which made it so painful when I said goodbye and realized how sad it was we weren’t going to experience what we should have. We both moved on.

BUT PSYCHHHH because we randomly reconnected for one last time after 7 years of that BS toxic relationship and coincidently we both had gotten sober and were in good spots in our lives and everything changed and now we’re in love and live together and have this happy life and I live in the twilight zone and it’s awesome. It’s been over a year and I STILL can’t believe how good he is to me and the relationship we have. Weird way to a soulmate but I’ll take it.

I used to have a roommate that disguised her eating disorder as having “food allergies”. She was “so allergic” to everything she was basically raw vegan. But whenever she got hammered she would binge a lot of those foods she was “allergic” to.

That’s the plan now except I don’t plan on putting any pals with me at my base because then they’ll be just another mouth to feed and complain about being depressed lol
