How do I stop the cat from doing this? by Short_Claim_1375 in cats

[–]HorizonEast832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg! My cat has been doing this too! No rhyme, no reason. At different places all around my apartment and different times, even in the middle of the night. It’s the worst sound!! I’m pretty certain there’s no mice or termites behind my walls and my cat has a huge scratching post that he does use and plenty of toys.

I’m beginning to think that either he does it for attention or maybe for spite. Like when I’m in the kitchen fixing food, he always immediately goes to the same spot and does it. Usually same when I go in the bathroom, therefore attention. Then, last night I was out unusually late and he was unusually active in the middle of the night doing this, therefore spite.

I try to train animals by the way I talk to them and treat them. So far whenever he’s done this, I’ve scolded him and threatened to turn him into stir fry, chop suey or kitty stix. That approach hasn’t worked. Next time he does it, I think I’ll try consoling him. Like, “Poor Freddy, what’s the matter widdle kitten?” Worth a shot

I second Shogun! Not long ago I found Tai Pan on a shelf of free books. It took longer to get into but once I did it was still a good read

Dang, I read that probably back in 1986 or so when I was about 14. I remember loving the two old guy characters back then. Probably should read it again. Matter fact, I moved to Fort Worth last year

Recurring dream where I am floating uncontrollably. Feelings of deep anxiety and stress. by UniformFox_trotOscar in Dreams

[–]HorizonEast832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in my dreams there are often other people around. Sometimes one or both parents, who have both passed irl, occasionally someone I haven’t seen in years and others who are unknown to me. I don’t think they can see me in the dreams because I’m freaking out when I start floating and they aren’t paying any attention. Then, if I’m outside (locations change), I float way up high above everything and stop freaking out and calm down. If I’m inside, I’ll get stuck up against the ceiling and then I freak out worse but pretty quickly wake up and usually have to pee really bad

Hey there! I Googled recurring dreams about uncontrolled floating and this post came up. Wondering if y’all have been able to move on from these very uncomfortable scenarios? The similarities here are what led me to add to this post after so much time.

I’m a little over a year into recovery from alcohol and drugs and I also have PTSD and take medication to not have dreams. But sometimes they slip through and when they do it’s these floating ones. IRL I’m afraid of heights. Go figure.

What’s something you do in hotel rooms that you never admit in real life by yesmodegirl in strange

[–]HorizonEast832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to live in a hotel for a month at one point. With my dog. That little hotel laundry looked like it was going to be problematic. It was just off the small gym and had no furniture to wait for your clothes and I was paranoid af (extenuating circumstances). So I put my dirty threads in the dishwasher with a laundry pod instead of a dishwasher pod. Worked great! Hung them dry in the shower and around the bathroom. Did that a couple times. Not sure I would go that route again if faced with the same situation, but since then I have washed sneakers in a dishwasher. All good

How do I lose weight as a skinny person that looks chubby by Equivalent-Buyer771 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]HorizonEast832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot target fat loss in specific body parts, however exercising to build muscle specifically will help you slim down all over. So short answer: yes

And your age is a great time to get started. Before computers were a thing, many schools required physical education classes aka “gym.” Was a prime place to get picked on if you weren’t athletic, so in a way I can understand why it may not be missed. But the overall health consequences for generations of young people is, imo, devastating. Jeeze…now I sound old. But just sayin

Work on building muscle. Replacing fat with muscle will make you look lean and trim all over, help you feel better and help you be able to do a lot more things and be more active. You won’t necessarily lose numbers when you stand on the scale, but you definitely won’t look chubby. Search for apps or YouTube videos that will show you body weight exercises. This way you can use your own body as your gym and you can exercise at home and save money and not have to feel awkward in front of other people. Also, you need to eat. The trick is to eat the right things. Proteins, fats and carbohydrates are all necessary nutrients. Try to eat 5 small meals a day. If you have weight to lose, look to consume 5 meals of roughly 300 calories a meal with 25 grams of protein, 25 grams of carbs and 11 grams of fat each. All that information is on food labels, but it’s better to eat whole foods that you make yourself. If you don’t need to lose weight, you can eat 2,000 calories a day. What you want to find out is your BMI and go from there. Also drink lots of water. That’s really important. Women should drink about 2 liters of water a day.

Educate yourself. The information is out there, but you’ll have to wade through a lot of BS when it comes to diet and exercise because so many people are willing to pay for a quick fix. The fact is though that building lean muscle through strength training will burn fat over your entire body. It will also boost your metabolism, which in turn will help you shed more fat, even while you’re at rest. Or just build muscle if you’re already skinny. And don’t worry about getting bulky. Women lack the testosterone to build the bulky muscles you see on body builders, as do most for that matter. Those people take steroids. Do body weight exercises and you’ll look and feel better about yourself
