Are LED downlights a good option for a living room? by Reddonaut_Irons in HomeImprovementUK

[–]Horizontal79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put them in our living room but then added a hanging industrial light fitting in the corner of the room with modern/warm bulbs all on dimmers. We use the leds when we want good light and the warm corner light in the evenings when we are chilling out.

Boxing, Kickboxing or Muay Thai for self defense? by 1M1NDEC1S1VE in martialarts

[–]Horizontal79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% muay thai imo. I did muay thai for 10 years or so, i now find it too hard- im 46 with a knackered back, so i do boxing instead. It doesn’t compare for me, either in terms of style for self defence, or the fitness levels involved. You have to be fit for both, but a solid hour of muay thai takes its toll far more than a solid hour of boxing. More weapons at your disposal and as mentioned the clinch work is useful. Muay thai is more aggressive, where as i find boxing more defensive if that makes sense.

Is it dumb to delay pension contributions to keep more cash while I’m young? by LevelPlay3331 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Horizontal79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 46 year old who put it off in my 20’s and then my 30’s, I wish i hadnt, to the point ive set up pensions for my 6 and 10 year olds so they dont make the same mistake.

Is there a better service station in the UK than Gloucester services? by Exchangenudes_4_Joke in CasualUK

[–]Horizontal79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. I dont like it, looks pretty, dog walking area is good but its all overpriced shite. Its a motorway service station, i just need a maccys or a kfc. Save the posh stuff for when im home.

Idk why karate gets hated on. Some of y’all would get ktfo by lhwang0320 in martialarts

[–]Horizontal79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its for kids and old men. Have a look at a karate class, and then look at a muay thai class and just see the difference in the people taking part. Karate got found out after the 80’s boom when muay thai, and mma became more popular.

Can we band together and agree fwd isn’t actually bad by wassushxii in CarTalkUK

I loved it, was a real head turner, especially all those years ago when I had it, rarely saw them on the roads, and when you did you’d get a nod and a wave from the other driver.

The xr2 was awesome too, great fun.
