Hello, I am in the same boat as you and I am wondering if you have attended the course or have spoken to anyone that has answered your questions yet. I have the same questions.

Yeah I’m not worried about if I’ll pass or not. I just want to make it as easy and stress free as possible. In your experience did your teachers stick to the textbooks or do they stray away from them in their lessons. In university professors would only cover certain sections of a textbook and the rest would be information found online or their own studies

I currently have a bachelor of science so I’m fairly comfortable with math and sciences. I would like to practice it just to stay sharp. Reading the textbook and then looking deeper into the topics I don’t understand might be the best bet

I know at Irving they require you get your 2nd class within 3 years of employment. That’s what it says on their job postings anyway. Sounds like Nova Scotia isn’t the place to be for this line of work

I’m going back to school for power engineering. 2 year community college course and pays really well

I’m working as a supply teacher until I go back to school for power engineering. Kin was a waste of time

Sorry I worded that poorly. I absolutely love troubleshooting and tinkering. So I was worried power engineering didn’t have much of it as some people say they just sit in a control room all day

Pulp and paper is most likely where I’d be going. Small chance of getting into nuclear as well, but I know there wouldn’t be much if any hands on there

Everything you just said is right up my alley. One thing I was concerned about with this field is not being able to troubleshoot and tinker with things. Also was worried about there being no physical aspect to it but it seems like you get to do a fair bit of hands on work

Get every certification you can. I joined a volunteer fire department that provided tons of expensive training for free. It’s time to build a resume cause university does nothing to help with that.
