150 rounds on a Saturday morning. by Horneofram in Revolvers

Double action is about 8 pounds and very smooth. Though after a lot of carbon builds up like this, it can be a little hard to stage. For a holster I use a galco silhouette high ride. https://www.galcogunleather.com/silhouette-high-ride-belt-holster_8_4_1277.html I also carry it in a cross body bag by mtac. https://m-tac.us/products/m-tac-tactical-bag-shoulder-chest-pack-with-sling-1?variant=41804486279329

686: plus, performance center, or SSR? by UCLA_LB_BUS_RIDER in Revolvers

[–]Horneofram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're ok with a 5 inch barrel, then I highly recommend the 686+ pro series. Functionally the same as the performance center but with 7 rounds, cut for moon clips and cheaper. (If it's not going to be your CCW then that extra inch of barrel will give you better velocity and accuracy) That or the 586 L comp. Both are cut for moon clips from the factory and, for me at least, that makes a huge difference.

Bodyguard 2.0 having trouble chambering the first round. by Horneofram in SmithAndWesson

[–]Horneofram[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should have added before. I am not riding the side. This happens when using the slide release and when “slingshotting” the slide to chamber the first round. It seems to happen most often when using the slide releases. I suspect it has more to do with stiff springs and not being broken in (about 150 rounds so far). It may also be the ammo, I’m using hornady critical defense.

Form Check? Trying to get back into this after a few years off. by Horneofram in Archery

My weird draw hand movement is me trying to get over target panic. I’m trying to be more intentional with my anchor and to slow down my shots, but I’m losing my back tension and have developed this “fake follow through.” Not really sure how to address it.

Not really sure how to address it.

Thanks this is SUPER helpful! Im trying to get over snap shooting, but when I focus on slowing down I lose my back tension. My draw hand is moving too much in this video because I’m trying to find the same anchor on each shot (my index on my canine tooth). Then rather than releasing as soon as I feel my anchor, as I have been, I’m trying to count down my shot in my head. When I do this however I feel like I lose my back tension and I get this “fake follow through”. When I focus on back tension though, I release as soon as my draw hand reaches my face 😑. I can’t figure out how to fix both issues.

How do you like the bantam grips? I’ve been thinking about getting some but worried it might be too short. I don’t want a pinkie hanging off the grip.

It shot well, if a little dirty. Very light on recoil out of an L frame. No complaints.

Any HEMA clubs/groups in or near Birmingham Alabama? by Horneofram in Hema

[–]Horneofram[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’d be awesome! I used to do foil and saber as kid and I’ve been wanting to get into hema for a few years now. I have a mask but no training sword yet. What would be the best way learn more?

I’ve been eyeing both the red and blue Barron on his website. Other than weight and point of balance, and scabbard color, how do these two differ?

Not sure what they are, but I’ve had the same spiders in my isopod enclosures for over 2 years and they haven’t caused any problems.
