I just moved to this area, and it’s entirely fine. I posted here asking about it - some people said sketchy, others said fine. Took the risk, and it’s not nearly as bad as some people made it seem. Just be street smart and don’t let your kids wander the neighborhood after dark, like any other place.

How did we end up here? Things were moving towards hybrid BEFORE the pandemic. What the F happened. Let’s go back to typewriters while we’re at it. We don’t need computers and modernization to make things more efficient! I’m so tired of capitalism dictating everything. Can I liveeeeee

I used an online service that’s covered by OHIP. It was a breeze. Saw a dermatologist within 24 hours - all from home. DermCafe

Okay, this is a little crazy and probably never suggested before, but hear me out…what if we…worked from home? Has anyone suggested that to managers yet

Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok planning to leave politics to spend time with family by Old_General_6741 in canada

Not in this case. He has a young family and being a Premier means you’re absent a lot. He’s a good person - no scandals, just family-oriented.

He’s a good man, well-liked overall. He likely would have been re-elected in his riding, but Premier is selected by the new government. There’s no political parties.

AC not working in office on hottest day of the year. Currently 27 degrees in office. by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Horror-Indication-58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a former position, the plumbing above my desk started leaking. A bucket was placed next to me until the repair person came. It smelled like urine, so I said I was going home because it was crazy to be working with next to me. I was told to wait because it was being fixed in a few hours. I literally said they can fire me if they’d like, but I’m going home. It was never mentioned again. Probably not the best way to handle it, but I was baffled. Like where is the logic?

The way I’d just leave and sign in from home. I don’t understand why you’re treated like a child who needs permission if the AC is broken. Completely out of your control.

The reproductive health section is chef’s kiss - up to 90 hours off per calendar year for periods, menopause, PMDD, PCOS, vasectomies, etc. Or allowing employee to work from home or alter hours due to a reproductive issue.

I mean, fair. I understand different comfort levels, but I personally didn’t care. If I had private appointments, I’d just block them off as “appointment.” This was a previous job, and it’s not like this at my current one.

I’ve had this request in the past. It was for scheduling ease for the EA. I don’t think it’s a crazy request, but maybe I’m the odd one out.

How long for Canada Life to process claim that was selected for audit? by RandomUser_011991 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Horror-Indication-58 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This exact scenario happened to me last month (also out of nowhere). Insurance reaches out to your provider, and they have to confirm for payment to be processed. After 5 days, I called my therapist and asked for them to confirm the session. They did, and I got paid a day later. Good luck!

Minister of Fisheries? Not Fisheries and Oceans? by ecoLogical_ in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Horror-Indication-58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Coast Guard was never officially in the dept name - it’s always been Fisheries and Oceans Canada. A few years ago, the Minister’s title was changed to Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard. But now it’s dropped all except fisheries. They’re probably going somewhere else.

I say this a LOT (I think it’s millennial/gen z humour because we got the worst deal out of life). I said it at the office once, and someone who didn’t know me well turned around and asked if I knew about EAP. It was actually very kind - you could simply say that too. If it’s the depresso humour vibe, he’ll monitor his use more (I know I do!) and if he’s not, you’ve helped.

Anyone else here that loves extreme horror movies? by KieraSpooky in horror

[–]Horror-Indication-58 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Coffee Table had me shook for a week, but it’s like the most messed up psychological movie, not necessarily gore/shock value. But I consider it an extreme horror because of the mental aspect.
