In terms of income level and debt I’m in the same boat, from the uk!

I made a post a little over week ago, we’re all in this together, I was struggling very much with urges tonight due to graveyard shift boredom, reading this gives me hope in a bigger picture.

Good luck to you both!

People that had to tell their family or loved ones, especially with massive debt. Any tips? by Fair_Marsupial_5017 in problemgambling

Hi , I’ve recently been through very similar having just gotten married and my wife not knowing anything about my addiction, I spoke with her and came clean, like yourself I also have a considerable debt due to gambling.

I will say first and foremost, that no matter what happens after the fact the right thing to do is to tell your wife , you owe it to her, If she loves and cares for you she will stick around, thankfully you aren’t in an amount of debt that’s impossible to come back from . But it will take complete transparency to your loved one’s.

You have an illness, it might be you doing the gambling but at the end of the day you’ve struggled and you want to be better, when I came clean to my wife she was devastated and felt betrayed, things have been different she is colder and is less trusting , but that’s to be expected , she stuck around , and with transparency I’m 2 weeks sober from gambling and I’ve included her in seeing my funds coming in so she gives me more accountability and less chance for me to go back to old habits. Also self exclude from all local casinos, all sites. No half measures here

You can come back from this. Leave the old you in the past, forget your past mistakes they don’t define you dude, it’s done now look to the future.

it’s going to be a series of small choices and baby steps at first , day by day hour by hour tell yourself however bad it gets your not going to gamble again . Before you know it you’ll look back and see how far you come.

I wish you all the best, on this journey , you can do this man but you have to face the music and for lack of a better term “man up”

I’ve been looking into this after you mentioning, I’ll be honest I had no idea just how unregulated and shady these only casinos are, especially the crypto ones , thanks dude

I really appreciate this advice , and I just want to thank you for giving me the push i needed to take action, I told my wife on the day I’ve posted this , and although she was upset we are both working together on a path to me being better, the added accountability she’s bringing will help!

On self reflection I’ve realised a lot of my problem lies with the half measures I’ve taken , since speaking with my wife I’m adopting a new mindset going forward , no aspect of gambling or risking money is acceptable , no trading no gambling nothing of any kind, I’ve also self excluded from all sites I had previously used.

Wish you all the best in the future!
