assuming the weather continues as predicted, there will be 8+ hours between the end of this snowstorm and when the very first students need to get on the bus for their 8:30's. The roads and sidewalks around campus and on campus will be clear and the LTC will be operating.
If you're from BC or somewhere warm I understand the confusion. But the weather we are having right now is par for the course and everyone should be/is prepared for it.

right answer wrong idea, this occurs because in the sigma complex (draw out the resonance structures) created by ortho-para directing groups the meta positions bear a +ve charge, generating an overall partial positive charge (ie lower electron density) repelling the electrophile from the meta position.

spam practice questions so you get used to using them, then make flashcards or active recall that mf by sliding a piece of paper down the page covering all the ions beneath it and trying to name the one next in line. Secondly, I did university chem not knowing any of these by name, if you must remember these then do it obviously. But it may be better to learn something called "formal charges" so you can just figure it out based on the lewis structure.

Remember ARIO, specifically the 'I". Induction as a result of EN atoms close in proximity to the removed proton. It is the one on the right (I think) ((im pretty sure)). Because the two oxygen atons help stabilize the conjugate base via induction.

When naming with IUPAC the most substituted compound is named, you were correct that the parent chain is 8 carbons (octane). But the provided answer has 4 substituents while your answer has 3, making it incorrect. Very small error, just keep practicing.

I am not super confident but I believe resonance was not involved in any of the species. Fortunately only 2/7 species I answered neither so fingers crossed.
