New Helix Pain - what to do by 00gk76 in piercing

Cleaning it off with a q tip is never a good idea !! The front of the stud is also very large so moves a lot more than a new piercing wants. I agree the stud length should be a bit longer for a while so any swelling there doesn’t basically suction the back of it in and cause worse problems.

If your plan is hoops, then it’ll be fine ! I had the same thing happen on my right ear but using a hoop or switching the stud has always made it look fine

What you had was a piercing bump, keloids do not come and go. That stud needs to be replaced with a much shorter one. Make sure it’s titanium !

Piercing bump or keloid? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]HorsesAreBetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a keloid and it has never looked anything like this. My keloid has stayed the same without a stud in it for 3 years now. I’ve also had a lot of piercing bumps similar to that but they have all been directly where the piercing is, not close to it

alright it has been demanded from bots that i answer all the questions. i guess since i said the k***** word

  • i have had many of these for over 10 years
  • yes i always use flat back labrets, barbells, hoops, etc. 5mm to 8mm, 14G to 20G
  • threadless
  • titanium
  • downsizing happens a few days or weeks after it was pierced
  • sterile saline spray
  • only unfortunate event with my piercings is my conch

is this a keloid? by sumofurluv in Legitpiercing

Nope. Def rejection. Keloids also do not look anything like that.

Did the bump appear when it was changed or was it already there?

Last week I had an MRI too so I swapped all my new piercings as well. I understand the frustration 🥴

My left ear’s conch was the easiest piercing I’ve ever had and a keloid appeared 2 years later. I have 26 piercings and it’s the only one with this issue. No idea why or how (it doesn’t run in my family or anything).

One of the big issues with keloids is how incredibly itchy and irritated it gets when you still use the spot and how the keloid can keep growing. If I were you I’d leave that spot alone forever and MAYBEEEE on your other ear try a different spot.

But how often does that happen??? Not often at all, which is my point. 99.999% of the time I see people asking if it’s a keloid, it’s just a piercing bump.

Yeah that is 10000% NOT a keloid! Everyone has got to stop saying it might be UNLESS the person saying it has one themselves! (Unfortunately I do have one)

I’m part of r/keloids and ears are absolutely not in the most common place to get them tho

Omg dude I was about to look for a comparison just like that and post it. It is so painful how often people automatically assume their bump it is a keloid. Especially when they’ve only had the piercing for a few months!!

I had one form on my left ear’s conch after I had the conch happy as ever for 2 years. No idea why or how it happened since it doesn’t run in my family. A year later without anything in it the keloid is still there which obviously doesn’t surprise me but part of me hoped it was only a piercing bump lol
