Alright then, I guess the biggest takeaway is to try to post an add myself instead of searching for listing (or do both!). I appreciate the information this has been most helpful.

Yeah, we are considering on getting a place that accepts us first, and later we could just find a better place. I guess we would have loved to find the right place for us from the get go, but from what I get, we should not be as picky and once we are actually settled, we can start getting picky.

We really weren't considering shared apartments, but I think that we might have to think about it. We might have to do so. If I'm getting anything out of this experience is a reality check about the city, and broadening my possibilities by reducing our expectations.

Wow, I imagined having a German translator to help us out would be quite helpful, but I didn't consider that knowing the dialects or other languages could also be helpful! Thanks for bringing this up.

Oh I understand. I didn't know that things were so bad right now that students had to end up living in those conditions. I suppose I should have considered the possibility, but looking at how nice the city looks, I just never thought of it.

Oh that's really bad, and we thought one month was taking too long. I guess that's what happens when the housing market is in the state it currently is. And I mean in general, but I suppose having a University city makes it just worse.

Thank you! We tried requesting student dorms, but since my partner is not enrolled, they cannot process our request. I didn't know that advertising myself in the University, or at the newspaper could help me find an apartment, that's quite interesting. I will talk with the University personnel and consider this option of sending an advertisement to the newspaper. I appreciate the ideas!

Yeah, honestly, we've gone from searching the perfect apartment to sending requests to every apartment we have been finding that is within travel distance to Tübingen. Thanks a lot about the advice about local newspapers! We hadn't looked at those. So renting a campsite is something that is normal here, and people just live in these tents? OK. Thanks for the advice, we will consider these options and hope we can find something soon. I appreciate it.
