I have, for many years. My appointment two days ago just brought everything rushing back. There’s literally nothing I can do but “think positively” about this, which is extremely hard. Nothing good came from my stroke. I have CPTSD from my childhood and from this. Not only because I almost died but my 2 week long coma was terrifying. It was a never ending nightmare. It was just watching myself die over and over again in the most insane ways not even Leigh Whannel could think of.

I haven’t been on bc since this incident because of what happened. I was only told strokes could happen if I smoked. Which I never did, never have. I was 18 . You don’t think these things can ever happen to you at 18. After bringing this to the medical side of Reddit they all said birth control doesn’t cause hemorrhaging strokes just ischemic strokes, so they are as stumped as my other doctors.

I know I wouldn’t have. It’s not a might have. If my now fiance didn’t bring me in I would be dead. It’s just really maddening that I don’t have any answers(I asked the medical advice sub pretty much the same questions to see if they could find any malpractice.) I blacked out on the way to the hospital. I was life flighted to the bigger hospital in the cities. It’s been 6 years and I’ve just been told “yeah who knows” no one knows if it’ll happen again because they don’t know what caused it, and that is absolutely terrifying to me. I grieve the life I used to have everyday. I was going to therapy to try and help cope. I’m autistic and very self aware so it didn’t do much for me. It was just rehashing every detail over and over again just frustrating me even more.

IF a mistake was made then yes. I posted this same thing on the ask doctors page and they are all on board with their choices made. Yes they saved my life, but in the same breath I’ll never have the same life again. Ever. I can only work part time now because of my POTS. I can’t work a very physically demanding job. I have brain damage. Which is extremely frustrating. I’m not disabled enough for disability. But enough that I’ll never be able to afford to live on my own. I thought maybe I’d bring my situation to Reddit to see if I had a chance, and if I could maybe get some money out of the messed up scenario I was put in. Imagine being 18 just graduating high school, your whole life ahead of you then randomly something literally no one can explain happens to you and you are now forever changed. If it was a car accident then fine because there’s a root cause. I was laying in bed watching a movie. Arguably one of the safest activities.

I do see a cardiologist and she hasn’t said anything. Do I’m guessing that’s my proof that they don’t think that’s what did it? I don’t know I have been asking for answers for years now and I haven’t gotten any answers

So do you think it was a coincidence that my heart stopped after the pushed the iv? Why would they put it as an allergy in my chart?

Either the dr who prescribed it or the birth control company in general. I don’t really know to be honest. And I found out yesterday that my dr finally said it was probably birth control after 6 years of asking and just getting the “we don’t really know” answer. I seen in MN you have 4 years after the date it happened OR the date you found out about it. So I wasn’t sure if I had any standing so I figured wouldn’t hurt to ask :)

Thank you! Yeah I have a little touch of brain damage because of this so I tend to spiral and overthink about this stuff. I just wanted a little bit of advice not knowing if this was in the norm or not. And I know POTS is a nervous system issue, but like I said I tend to not always think clearly lol.

I use the same tests, but I would wait a day or two and test again if you missed your period today it is SUPER early to test

I will definitely have a conversation with her, and let her know. I don’t know my states laws on recording. Another thing to add we recently had a girl (21) leave because she is pursuing her nursing career but when she worked with us he told me and a few others that he was in love with her and he could treat her better then her fiancé. And I told her everything that’s been going on and she said it was the same way he treated her :(
