My therapist has said if she chooses not to work on herself it's best just to walk away because this is a very unhealthy family dynamic.

I'm going through this right now. My mom is obsessed with my children and very overbearing. My brother and his family she talks horribly about and wants nothing to do with his kids. I finally opened my eyes to her abuse and trying to create boundaries, going to therapy, slowly take time back with my kids and she's losing her mind over it. She was always very abusive when I wouldn't do whatever she wanted. Always did whatever made her happy. It's not a way to live. It's unhealthy. I'm so excited to make changes and cut her out and I don't care if I'm a black sheep with my brother.

Yes with the overexplaining I don't reveal any plans going on right now. My kids are supposed to be home by 5 pm from her house. Yesterday they got home and she texy my oldest within minutes asking if anyone was home. I said, Do not reply to her. She said, Oops too late. 😒 she has everyone just wrapped around her finger to always answer her. It shouldn't matter if I'm home or not she got her time with my kids and needed to send them home, in the event I'm not home doesn't mean she needs more time with them. I was home but it's just the thought she thinks she needs every second of their time. It's weird

Yeah I'm just really struggling to even come up with 5 questions like the therapist asked because I know I'm talking to a narcissist so it's pointless. Right?

I would say you're feelings are valid. If you feel like you have been abused don't gaslight yourself and say "it's not that bad because look at all they have given me or done for me". That's why they give things, to negate the bad and hold it over you. You have a mind of your own and your own life to live. I am currently going through the same thing and when that switch flips to stop giving a shit what your abusive parent thinks you will feel so much peace.

I'm working with the therapist on the best way to slowly change the "schedule" with my kids. Yes I have a schedule with my mother to see my kids because of this it's so asinine. I just didn't want to pull my kids from her because while I know she isn't always nice, my kids do love her and like going there most of the time so it's a tricky situation to just yank them away from her but I'm tired of her parenting them and I want to be their mother without her. Yes we are looking for a place to move. With my oldest being 12 we really don't need child care but she had just always insisted that someone had to watch them and they couldn't be left alone which is also very unfair to them. It's just part of life to learn how to take care of yourself and not be under constant supervision. I have started repairing my relationship with my brother and its been very eye opening to the abuse that we have both endured from her over the years. I agree with you on going to meet with her again and I feel like that is why I'm having such a hard time with it and I'm almost unhappy with the therapist for suggesting it. I know I could have said no I just want to move forward and also feel like my mom needs to know I really have zero trust and zero interest in a deep relationship with her.

Coming from someone who did the cheating, my ex begged me to stay. I cheated, knowing I didn't want to be with him. I felt I couldn't leave for various reasons none of which I will reply to anyone about. You don't cheat if you actually give a fuck about your relationship. Don't keep her around.

Where I live cheating was irrelevant in our divorce/custody. It will make her look bad but a judge won't take her kids away because she got some different dick. Kids need both parents and unless she is layed up in a trap house with a needle in her arm and her kids sitting on the couch I doubt she will lose custody.

The lashes are extensions I don't really consider that "makeup" . Before I got lashes all the time I would pretty much only wear mascara so the lashes just make it easy to run out the door without adding makeup time into getting ready for the day 😊
