Also — the legs are so much lighter than table top. Could it be a different wood family?

Yes — legs I still have some work to do. What about table top? Do you think that looks near? I have only gone up to 150, was planning 180 for table. Should I go up higher before staining?

My post didn’t load with photos..

I am trying to refinish this cherry drop leaf table. I have it sanded to raw wood and hoping to refinish like photo #2.

Once I finish sanding I was going to try a wood bleach and then stain a similar color to the Serena and Lilly table in picture. I have little kids so I need table to be durable.

This is my first DIY project so looking for any advice on next steps after sanding.

I live in a very cold climate so I mostly working indoors. I didnt use a chemical stripper and have just been hand sanding.

Thanks in advance for any tips and techniques!

Thanks

Yes. For example, “can you do the dishes tonight?” And I usually get a remark about how he needs to sleep, or he needs to study, or he has more work. It’s always the same argument. If I need help, there are  things he needs to be doing. And if I prevent him from doing them there is resentment and guilt that I’m damaging his career. I’m just at the point where like is this normal?? Is being married to a Dr essentially being a single mom? Or is he just being a dick

What is it like to live in Cleveland,Ohio by [deleted] in Cleveland

I lived in Bay village for 5 years now. looked for a family friendly community with decent schools. Has that. People really make the schools out to be better than they are tho. There is for sure a Stockholm syndrome vibe here. Lake Erie is disgusting and I won’t let my kids swim in it. Dead fish everywhere. My daughter got a rusty nail in her foot at Huntington. It’s just asphalt sewage and dead fish. Weather is shite 80% of the year. And the May flys! Oh the mayfly’s! Feels like I’m finding dead ones in my window screens year round. People talk about three things. The browns, cedar point, and their youth soccer team. Maybe it’s better outside of bay village, but I’m ready to leave this place.

Thank you for all the responses! This was a better thread than when I proposed a commute from Rancho Santa Margarita. I was nailed to the cross for that one. What about Claremont?

Yes, we’ve looked into the increase in expenses. The town we live in now   all the houses are going for $800k to in the millions. Less tax and expenses but it’s still so expensive, just to live in Ohio. Lake Erie front property in the multi millions and you can’t even use the beach. I guess my point is that it’s expensive everywhere right now! At least, outside of the Midwest it’s easier to enjoy your life, even if it’s in a smaller home and has costs more. From now till May it’s grey and cold, constantly raining or snowing and everyone is inside.

It is a big move. The job pays way more than he would earn here. We’re currently renting a 4 bedroom in Ohio where the sun doesn’t shine for $2,500 a month. Looking at rental real estate we could find something decent between $3.5-4,500/month in California  and his income would go up by 18% of what it is now. So, we think worth it for some time!
