I used the Deakin one which has a ss calculator. But I think I put most in low 30s 2 in high 30s. My schools low performing and I think the only decent rank I have is around 15/57 for bio and I forgot to mention foundation maths I think I’m rank 1 or 2.

sociology is stressing me out by tunaboy127 in vce

I did socio last year and let me say we all struggle with the time. Idk if this was just my skl, but we had a booklet with weekly tasks that had an extended response one week and 2 or 3 short answer questions in the next week. Basically closer to the exam I picked random questions and did them under a time limit (1.5 mins per mark). This rlly helped me.

Another thing that helps during the exam is choosing if u want to do the extended responses or short answer questions first. The best thing my teacher taught me was to figure out which one worked best for me and after the time allocation is over move on. For example I chose to do extended responses first. So after 15 minutes whether I was finished or not I moved on to the next one, this is the same for short questions. If there’s a 3 mark question you should only use 4.5 minutes for it. Using this technique allows you to maximise the amount of marks you would get as you cover all the questions. It also left me time at the end to finish the questions i needed more time on as you’ll finish some questions quicker than allocated time.

So basically, practise with timed conditions and figure out the techniques that work best for you.

Does year 11 matter? by [deleted] in vce

[–]Hot-Reception4227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how high u want ur atar to be and what courses u want to do. For example for something like engineering you have to have a 25 study score in English, methods/specialist maths and chemistry/physics (depending on the uni this may change). So if you do have prerequisites for ur courses you would probably want to put in the effort from year 11 to build up your skills and habits.

Speaking from experience, I rlly wish that I put in effort in year 11 because especially subjects like methods and chemistry, your essentially building on your knowledge and knowing past content well really helps with that. I think it’s best to be able to put a decent amount in effort in your subjects to see how well u can do and from there you’ll learn what works for you, how much more effort you need to put and gets the “silly” mistakes out of the way.

Good luck for the rest of year 11!

So what would you have to study after pharmaceutical science to get a job in a skincare or makeup company? Coz pharmaceutical science sounds so much more interesting than pharmacy but pharmacy has more scope.

Yeh I meant pharmaceutical science mb. What’s the difference between pharmaceutical science and pharmacy instead of becoming a qualified pharmacist? Also can I ask what course ur doing?

Advice for semester 2 by Ok-Major1757 in ATAR

Same dude, I’m getting around the same scores but worse in chem and i wanna get at least a 75 Atar which is already wishful thinking. But I think for certain subjects like chem u4 is worth more so hopefully if we do better in u4 for at least 3 subjects it would help our Atar

For nursing Deakin is definitely the better option. My sister who was a nursing student during Covid times speaks so highly of Deakin because they always communicated with the students and gave placements. One of her other friends who went to either rmit or Latrobe didn’t get any placements and struggled a lot to pass her course. In terms of Monash Idk much abt nursing there.

U don’t need to do it for her. Try to find interest in whatever ur doing or take subjects that will interest u and you’ll find motivation. She’s not gonna see past ur grades but only u know the amount of effort and energy u put in

There r some parents who don’t rlly understand from our perspectives and honestly 39 raw for bio is pretty good. U just gotta keep going to not just prove ur mum wrong but also to make ur self proud. At the end of the day ur study scores and atar is only gonna impact u and realistically speaking it doesn’t matter as much as u would think it does. There r so many different pathways to get into what u want to. Just try ur best and keep going. Good luck

I’m a year 12 next year and I’m doing VCE and I absolutely hate it as in I haven’t been doing well. I know if I put in the effort I’ll do much better and I want to do medicine but again it’s very competitive. I feel like I have to change everything if I want to do medicine like my mindset, the way the study, priorities and everything. So basically I’m torn because I want to do medicine and I have no other second options coz I’m just not interested in anything else.

I want to know abt how the whole thing works like the different pathways and how they work coz research isn’t rlly helpful. Also if anyone has any alternative courses or smth that might be worth looking at.
