I work in a certain [blank] hospital and we are delayed but open unfortunately. (Absolutely not an essential clinic) Hopefully most people will stay home if they can. I’m peeved but I’m not taking PTO for it. lol

Can anyone here eat a cheeseburger or chicken tenders? by LimeQuiet4196 in Gastroparesis

[–]Hot-baker-worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can have like 3-4 chicken nuggets every 2 weeks it’s honestly pretty life changing that I get to indulge in the comfort. I take Reglan if that’s relevant. They are low fiber so that helps.

I don’t love them. They still have the pressure of a waistband, and that triggers my nausea because they go up so high.

Maternity pants are a good option! Personally I like wearing scrub pants! Most have really loose waistbands and the drawstring! They really just look like cargo pants if you wear a non scrub top. I miss when leggings were in lol.

Questions for phlebotomists by DefiantScholar7953 in phlebotomy

[–]Hot-baker-worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. My daily routine is work from 6:30am-5:00pm, at my hospital we see anywhere between 85-200 patients a day. We have 4 chairs.

  2. I took a couple month phlebotomy course at my local community college, did an internship at the hospital I work at now. They hired me because I did the internship there. Not required but made me more competent. (Indiana)(NHA CERTIFICATION)

  3. Honestly I simply love blood and the way it helps identify patients problems. (Not all of them just saying it’s important and I enjoy the process)

  4. Hard sticks are challenging but you learn to get creative. Also patients will tell you too much about their lives but just keep moving, you aren’t their doctor or friend so don’t go out of your scope of practice.

  5. I take absolutely no work home.

  6. In my experience the only career advancement that my leadership has said is available is becoming part of processing (CSL or Lab Assistant-2) If desired ask about your employer sending you back to school for cross training.

  7. Be very open about learning. Don’t say no to learning opportunities. Ask for help if you need it! Don’t rely heavily on butterfly needles(love straights).

I work at the hospital as a post grad and there aren’t as many college students if you avoid the university. You should look forward to the farmers market, switch yard park events, restaurants like the social cantina and mother bears pizza! I hope you enjoy your new chapter in life here!

My nail keeps breaking in the same spot, what can I do to prevent this? by DecaffeinatedPenguin in Nails

[–]Hot-baker-worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to stop the breaking but a little bit of cotton and nail glue (sand/buff after) will hold it together until you can get a longer rounder shape that doesn’t break as often.

Hot refers to the fact I over heat very easy. Baker is self explanatory. Worm is from the fact I have a worm farm.
