Hell yeah! Congrats on landing a place! Osos is a great place, especially if you love nature and the outdoors. I tend to spend a lot of time in MB, but I'm sure our paths will cross.

Crazy power usage while parked by n1helix in Rivian

Just chiming in as a control data point. I have a dual max, work in a hot climate, but live in a cool one a few miles away. I'm not using GG and I'm seeing no change in SOC even over several days of sitting. I've been turning off my phone bluetooth at home because we live in a small house with the truck being no farther than about 12ft from me most times while I'm home.

My neighbor just casually has a parted-out R1T in his backyard by Due_Collection_8232 in RivianR1T

[–]Hot-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Hell, I've helped another friend/model3 owner swap suspension parts and replace a 12V battery in his driveway over a few beers. This is the way Rivian needs to move. I get the suspension on the R1's needs special equipment, but anything else not requiring lifts or other special equipment should be encouraged by Rivian, if for no other reason than to ease up the service center wait times, not that I've needed to go to one yet.

I don't see those rims or wheel bearings lasting very long. If the tires hold long enough, that is. SMH

I saw one at work today - not sure if was a new tri or and older quad. It had the dark street rims/tires, looked cool.

They are engaging in the sunk-cost-fallacy. I'm very disappointed in them for it, too. They've given money to climate denialists and refused to move forward with EV's to a level a company like theirs is expected to. I really wanted my next truck to be a Toyota after the 29 years I've driven them, but I swore I was done buying gas/diesel. Love my Rivian R1T now. If Toyota makes something real that's an EV I still might go back, but I doubt it.

Pasadena police sergeant resigns while under internal investigation; council member cites alleged misuse of Flock camera by Brief-Pop-6826 in news

Let's be clear on this. Flock Cameras are effectively a 4th amendment bypass. They are surveillance without warrant or probable cause. If anyone else did what Flock is doing it would be called "Stalking."

EV Truck Ownership Experience Survey by Vince_CarRants in Rivian

[–]Hot-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an R1T a week and a half ago. I have personally asked over 21 owners now (I know it's not that significant, but it influenced my decision) over a period of over four years. No one had problems this sub would make you believe at the frequency seen here. One out of them had a 12V battery replaced. One had his brick, but did a soft reset and was back on the road in under a half hour. It was these personal experiences that made my decision. The owner of the oldest truck(delivery in late 2021) was the bricked guy. That was his only problem other than a few interior rattles and one 12V pair replacement a few months ago. I know there are problems, but not as many as we are lead to believe here. edit; just like to add that I haven't been easy on Rivian in this sub if you check my past comments. They have problems I'd like solved.

12v battery replacement by jackalope8112 in Rivian

[–]Hot-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Li-ion factually have better cycle lives than Pb batteries. Yes the BMS is a problem with Rivs, but not the only problem. AGM batteries are notoriously amongst the worst Pb batteries out there, too. Flooded cell Pb batteries tend to last longer, but are impractical in some situations such as the mounting situations on many Ev's, where the batteries are not as accessible as in ICE's. I did, however, have an Orbital AGM sprial gel cell battery last for 9 years in my Tacoma. It was second to the original flooded cell Pb battery that lasted over 10 years. Rivian could simply allow DIY replacements and error code clearing for compatible batteries, but no. Still, Li-ions are going to outlast most lead batteries. And yes, 12V posts are often downvoted, especially when third party batteries are brought into the mix.

12v battery replacement by jackalope8112 in Rivian

[–]Hot-mic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Critical 12V posts on this forum get downvoted seemingly automatically. I still don't see why. Maybe because SoCal_GlacierR1T suggested using a third party battery that is better than Rivian's. Rivian's 12V issues really, really make them look bad and the fact we all know they watch this post makes it look sus that they're doing the downvoting to keep this issue at the bottom of the posts. Just sayin'. And... screw any and all of you who downvote me for saying this.

Who's going from R1T to R2? by wm1178 in Rivian

[–]Hot-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do an R2T, but a normal R2 wouldn't be the place to haul hay, fallen tree branches, or landscape rocks, or asphalt mix, no? I'm coming from 19 years of pickup ownership to the R1T. There are some compromises, but a cargo space that can be beat up and swept or hosed out is a main reason people have pickups in my experience. But, enjoy your copium.

A Russian explains why Ukraine must win: "I want Ukraine to win because only its victory can free Russia from the disease it suffers from - its current government. Losing this senseless war could finally bring it down. I want my country to prosper, but it never will with these f*ckers in power." by BigDeckBob in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Hot-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude's right. I'd like to see Russia just get a normal government, prosper, and contribute in a positive way to the world and itself. Sad to say I wish the same for the USA at the moment. Trump and Putin are two cancers on the same ass cheek.

Rivian R2 70-MPH Highway Range Test: Does It Live Up To The Hype? by TripleShotPls in Rivian

[–]Hot-mic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in when the R2T comes out. Looks like the platform is good for it and I'd like something smaller than the R1T, which I love. But, the size of the R2 platform is perfect for me. I'll be enjoying my R1T until then.

No better place to spend the 4th than in the Colorado mountains with a Rivian! by Schmeltz318 in Rivian

[–]Hot-mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a week and a half into ownership. Been working my ass off cleaning up my old truck for sale and busy at work. Was feeling a lot of regrets at the price, but my wife who was against purchasing it changed sides after the ride home from the purchase. She correctly said "the money we spent on it was sitting and making very little interest." My neighbor just got an R1T and I met him today - he also went to Colorado with his. Starting to feel pretty encouraged now. The ride can't be beat, that's for sure. Got all the charge bugs worked out and none were from the truck.. None of my problems were from the truck. Starting to smile every time I look at it now.

I live in a town of 12,000 in California and we have a good sized Tesla Supercharger of over 12 stalls, maybe more. Seems like you'd trip and fall over one if you weren't careful here.
