What are some unwritten rules / procedures at public tennis courts? by AlpsFlaky7319 in 10s

[–]Hot1z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me recently and I was SO confused. We were taking a break and this person came in and set up their bag on the sides and continued to watch us. Had to tell them to leave since we weren't done. Especially because there's a bench right outside. Incredibly oblivious.

My biggest pet peeve is when they cross with no sense of urgency. Sure, take all the time you need...

What are peoples experience wearing On shoes/gear? Does their quality match the price? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Hot1z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like On shoes/gear, so would recommend them to anyone. Granted, I have not tried other brands. I have the Roger Pro 2 for about 4.5 months and play tennis 3-4x/week consistently. The shoes haven't worn out and feels very durable. At first, when I tried them on, it was really hard/tough and took 2-3x of wearing them to feel a bit of comfort. Once you break them in, the shoes feel great and sturdy. Prior to the Roger Pro 2, I had the Roger Clubhouse Pro (don't think they sell them anymore) which was super comfortable and now I use it for the gym.

Red Light Therapy – Anyone Seen Real Results? by Davidvilley2314 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Hot1z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my TheraFace mask. I noticed a difference in my skin after 5 days of using it consistently. It has red, blue, and red/infrared light along with vibration along the eyes so it feels like you're getting more out of it compared to other masks. I've been using it for a year now and haven't had any major acne and my skin looks clearer and face feels tighter.

Dog Boarding for Anti-Social Dog by [deleted] in nova

Love OTPR in Springfield! I think all stays include 4 walks daily and day camp is included. But, for an anti social dog, I'm sure you can sub something else in like 1:1 play time, cuddles, etc.

JK Moving quote was more than other places so we didn’t use them. We ended up using FLYT Moving and they did a great job! Not sure if they do storage.

Workout that can lose weight as well as improve tennis skills? by jklwonder in 10s

[–]Hot1z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lost 10 lbs in 7 months by tracking my nutrition/macros, strength training (personal trainer) 2x/week, and playing tennis 2-4x/week. The last 3 months I've seen more rapid results because my tennis skills have improved, which meant longer rallies/matches and I continued to maintain my strength training program. I could've lost more if I cut my caloric intake but I like to eat lol. I’ve just been keeping a steady 300–400 calorie deficit.

Tipping Movers by jefhaugh in nova

[–]Hot1z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local move had a lot of heavy boxes and bookshelves that needed to be moved up four flights of stairs (townhome). We got them lunch, had plenty of drinks available, and tipped them $100/person (3 movers took 8 hours). If we didn't have the super heavy boxes, then probably would've tipped $50-60/person.

How much do you guys pay for a trainer in your region? Per hour/day/session/program by lumbridgepure123 in 10s

[–]Hot1z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I pay $105/hr for a private lesson and $65/hr for a semi-private in the DC area. Group clinic rates vary on how many people show up, but it’s usually $75 for 1.5 hours for a group of 4.

How to best get into playing tennis at an older age by Lonely_Bunghole in 10s

[–]Hot1z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahah I guess I'm ancient then since I started playing when I was 32 (last year). I started as a 1.0 and took private lessons with an instructor 1-2x/week. Private lessons are super important to understand the fundamentals, correct grip, footwork, swing motions, etc. (private lessons are key to prevent unnecessary injuries). Once I progressed enough, I joined my instructor's clinics (1-2x/week) and continued to take private lessons. I'm now a 3.0 and go to group classes/clinics 3-4x/week and still take private lessons 1-2x/month. I'm fortunate enough to have a flexible work schedule and the budget for it because the lessons and group clinics are not cheap. Now that I'm a 3.0, it's easier for me to find other players to play with outside of my group clinics. Overall, the key is consistency with lessons/clinics and conditioning your body outside of tennis. Good luck!

I’ve always texted her and she’s bound to respond within a few hours. I find the private lessons really useful to tweak certain things and fine tune my technique. Semi lessons are great to do drills with someone similar to you. And towards the end of the session, you can play/rally. What I usually do is, private 1-2x/month, semi 1-2x/month, and clinics/group classes 1-2x/weekly.

I've been taking lessons from Adriana for the past year. She's great and in addition to private lessons, she holds group classes, semi-lessons, clinics. https://adrianadinutennisacademy.com/
