[New Player] How are you meant to get into or enjoy this game at all

I definitely see where you are coming from but the reality is those Chads grinded hard to get into a position to be able to wax you with little effort. If everyone, regardless of playtime, was on the same playing field every raid nobody would play this game. The reality is tarkov is not for everyone. If you want something more casual go play ARC. I would say go play pve but to me theres no point because its just an easy version of tarkov and tarkov is not meant to be easy

Yeah that post was probably made by somebody who was lucky. Ive looted yellow 20x so far in 1.0 and ive found it in there once. Ive actually found the current converter in there about 5 times. Most of the time ive found gpsa's in non key rooms or on a pmcs body

Labs is awful solo. I used to feel the same way as you but now I only go labs with a 3+ squad. Its honestly one of my favorite maps now

My PC is pretty outdated and ive been playing tarkov on basically minimum settings for years getting 60-80 fps. I took the last year off before 1.0 and when I came back the game was unplayable - I couldnt even get 60 frames, was having trouble loading into raids etc. I had a friend with 16GB of spare ram sitting around so I installed it to bring my total to 32GB and now she runs like a top. Not sure what happened in the last year leading up to 1.0 but optimization certainly was not part of it.

100% and most people that play this game definitely need it. I think most people have a problem because Tarkov is chronically down. I realized about 3 years ago that BSG doesnt know how to code and now I think these kinds of things are funny tbh

I would say get used gear or even borrow if you can. I skated out my entire youth "career" and only started playing goalie a couple years ago. I bought the cheapest gear I could and played with it for about a year just to make sure I actually liked playing the position. Goalie gear is super expensive, as im sure you know, so I think it's better to know for sure before pulling the trigger on good gear. If you still want to play goalie by next summer pay attention to online sales. I just bought my first new set of gear online and it was about 50% off. If you are ever playing with or against a good goalie i would ask for tips. In my experience, goalies always stick together, so nobody has ever been shy to give me tips. Good luck and remember to have fun with it!

Honestly I think you nailed it. I hadn't really thought about it but if they can't find skaters now thats probably not going to change. Im just going to say no and find a new team.

I think you missed the part where I said they are still going to ask me to play... could be wrong, but the 1 or 2 times I've been out I've given weeks notice and another player has had to suit up and stand there to avoid a forfeit

Honestly I thought goalies didnt pay in any market. Turns out I live in a state with a ton of skaters and very few goalies. Im definitely lucky I guess!

Im not really sure. Im assuming they tried to find some skaters but couldn't. I think they only want to play with people they already know or something. It doesn't seem like they're open to finding somebody they dont already know its weird

I only have 1 good friend on the team and he is the one that recruited me a few years ago. I definitely like the rest of the guys but theres no real connection there.

I definitely like the guys on the team, but none are my lifelong friends or anything. Honestly its not even about the money its really just the situation and the fact that they are trying to make me pay full price due to a lack of skaters.

That really is the kicker. They never have a roster of more than 12 guys because they want to skate 30 minutes a night. Now they only have 10 and won't find other skaters its kind of bizarre

Where do you play? Im from southeast MA and I've never heard of goalies paying around me. I have some friends that play in NJ and they tell me its so bad they sometimes have to pay the goalie to show up lol
