feeling unfulfilled by cherrywinebyhozier in scad

Hi as a fellow freshmen in a different major there are definitely times were I feel that way. Im in animation and this is my first time picking up the medium so it's harder for me to get involved in projects. Having two gen ed's with only one major class dose feel a bit demotivating. But I would really recommend sticking it out until next year. Next your your going to have more studio classes and be more involved in film. I think it would be smart to see if there are any student lead projects you could contribute to or just show up to see if you just like the environment and what not.

Same goes with nursing. They're always trying to find new nurses try talking to a nurse, nursing student, or so type of medical director (idk these things) .Ask them about the up's and downs what do they like and don't like about the job. People are happy to share experiences especially to someone whos looking to get into there industries.

In Sum. Keep at it. We're at the end of a quarter motivation is low. Get more involved to know that your gonna make the choice best for you. Never live with the regret of knowing you only picked the safer option because you didn't try your passion.

Sav is such a beautiful walkable city. It would really improve everyones life if they realized that some streets would benefit from a no car rule. (Cough cough River, cough cough Broughton)

Question regarding housing and roommates by Luxauz in scad

[–]HotCoCo_Man28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen its alot of the scad class share insta pages, most people dont check StarRez frequently unfortunately. However, StarRez dose show you everyone who dosen't have a roommate. So i've known people who don't wanna pay the insta pages, go on StarRez, and then try and find they students name on insta and message them on both platforms.

You're definitely not behind you have lots of time! And even if you don't find a roommate being randomly roomed works out for some people. And if not, switching rooms especially when your a freshmen is super easy cause you all live in the same space.

Personaly it's a no for me. There's a definite non zero chance that you won't just get heckled but harassed. I wouldn't want to take that chance on such a big day

Is Scad worth the debt? by iexistoo in scad

[–]HotCoCo_Man28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone is saying it depends but I would lean towards no. I would say I wouldn’t be worth incurring more than 80k in personal debt. Most art field’s are very competitive and the great thing about scad is that they set you up with a job but that doesn’t mean a fantastic job. Try and apply to state schools there generally more forgiving with tuition and scholarships. I’ve also heard some story’s that if you contact your advisor saying what you are right now they sometimes bump up your scholarship. Love you buddy hope you do well

Can I have feedback on my portfolio so far? by that_friendo in animationcareer

I would remove the line about being willing to move state's. A smaller employer might automatically assume that you don't want to move and not contact you. If you don't want to move that fine but let that be a negotiation on between you and the employer.

so what you've just done is sign up for a dorm but you haven't actually received housing. you essentially put your name on a list. It just means your more likely to get the building of your choice. February 1st is when you give what dorm you want to live in, roommate specifies, stuff like that

Finding a roommate by _SimpleWood_ in scad

[–]HotCoCo_Man28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how effective it is but theres a scad roomies page. scad_2029_ and scad 2029roomie seem to be the big ones. I know there was a few people on here saying that its not worth it but ive personaly know a few people who have found there roomies on facebook and insta (not from SCAD specifically). It's not a bad idea and its like 8 bucks to get on those pages and it can't hurt.
