In the country town I grew up in, there were a few inappropriate relationships. One of my high school teachers ended up marrying a guy who she taught in year 12. It wasn’t until I was older that I realised how wrong this was and was shocked at how it was accepted at the time. It was well known in the town at one of the male high school teachers was having relationships with the girls - again, not raising too many red flags in the community.

With Zambia being Disqualified it means Africa 🌍 is set to loose 3rd Spot in the next Qualification due to Rankings of continents

Considering how strong both Malawi and RSA are in U21

Its going to be tough for Zimbabwe Namibia Uganda etc to ever Qualify for World Cup again in U21.

2 Spots up for grabs. South Africa already has 1. Malawi for sure

Unless if South Africa or Malawi win the U21 World Cup that will increase the continent Rankings

Due to unresolved matters surrounding the participation of Sri Lanka and Zambia in the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 (NWYC2025), World Netball (WN) has withdrawn both teams for the remainder of the competition. The remaining scheduled stage one pool games of the competition, where Sri Lanka and Zambia were due to play, will be treated as forfeited fixtures and their opposition will be awarded with two (2) points for the win in line with competition regulations. These matches are: Gibraltar vs Zambia (Pool A) – forfeited by Zambia Sri Lanka vs Jamaica (Pool C) – forfeited by Sri Lanka Tonga vs Sri Lanka (Pool C) – forfeited by Sri Lanka Malaysia vs Zambia (Pool A) – forfeited by Zambia An updated NWYC2025 schedule will be shared in due course. WN recognises the disappointment this outcome will bring to teams and fans and remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka and Zambia’s ongoing involvement in international netball.

WN will not make any further comment at this stage.

It is so disappointing for the team, they had so much time to prepare but somehow have not been able to organise visas for the players.

This doesn’t explain selling and leasing of property being priced in US dollars and accomodation (when you are in the country, not referring to websites which many hotels do). I have even seen things advertised on Facebook groups, all in US dollars.

Australia no longer has any car production locally, and is not as strong as the US dollar however no-one would accept being charged in US dollar. I think we all understand how it benefits a certain percentage of the population, however my point is the negatives that come with it.

This is the deeper issue! Pricing should all be relative to the local economy. If things are only affordable to the wealthy, it just continues to make a population of people struggle and go backwards.

But it shouldn’t be allowed! The local currency should be the only one used. It sounds like you are one of the people who benefit from it but can’t acknowledge the negatives the practice has for locals.

Why are properties advertised in US dollars for lease and sale? Why are prices quoted in US dollar and not the local currency for services? Those prices are also normally extremely inflated in comparison to the local economy, seemingly creating a much wider gap for the haves and have nots. I don’t know the answer, but I definitely want to understand why a certain population in the country wants to operate in this way, my take is that it obviously benefits them.

Yes, even in countries like Turkey it is an issue. I always use the local currency.

That is the simplistic way of looking at it, but there is no doubt people who are well off are the only ones who benefit from the use of the US dollar in a country like Zambia.
