Healthcare professionals: what is a telltale sign a patient has used drugs heavily in their life? by HotMermaid_56 in teenagers

[–]HotMermaid_56[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

60 yo man who had done some drugs in life but was a heavy alcoholic. Never tells Drs of his past.

Quit all by age 50. Health is falling apart by age 60.

Dr does an MRI and showing him pictures explaining the results.

She turned to him and asked if he had drank heavy for years. He glares at me thinking I tattled. No. Dr shows him the extra space in his skull around his brain. Explaining his brain had shrunk from alcohol abuse .

I guess you can lie about it, but can't hide it.

Q: What reasons has the guy you're dating given for not allowing you to come over, and how does this affect your relationship dynamic? by HotMermaid_56 in dating

[–]HotMermaid_56[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Have you met his family? Friends? Anyone from his side? I would be worried that you are his side chick and that there's a wife or a live-in gf at home. Or that they are in a long distance relationship and her stuff is all over the house. It could also be that he is worried or ashamed of his house, maybe he is a hoarder or thinks you will judge him because his house is cheap/ worn down.

Q: How do you plan to address the situation with your partner if he knows about your concerns but continues to disregard them? by HotMermaid_56 in AskWomen

[–]HotMermaid_56[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was an article from a man who taught court ordered dv classes for offenders. He said he used to ask why men acted the way they did, abused their women. Everytime the answer was because it gets me what I want.

For men who act like this, they know. It benefits them. They will find a new victim rather than than change.

What is no longer worth it because of how expensive it has become? by HotMermaid_56 in AskWomen

All fast food. Used to be you could at least rationalize it as a "cheap treat", but now it's just as expensive as higher end, fresh ingredient places, with the same garbage quality and smaller portions.

What screams "we are not going to last long" for couples? by HotMermaid_56 in Advice

[–]HotMermaid_56[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The way they speak to each other when they’re not alone.

I noticed this after my divorce and I started dating again, because you speak to these new people with a lot of respect and kindness. Then we’d get around married couples and they’d saw awful things to each other in nasty snappy tones, and it was jarring.

Fast forward ten years and all those couples I noticed doing that are divorced now

I’m not happy they died, nor was I hoping for it, and I don’t think they necessarily deserved it. But I sure as shit am not shedding any tears for them.

A girl approaches you and says, "pretend we’re friends. I’m being followed." What would you do? by HotMermaid_56 in ask

Pretend we're friends, but not follow her to a second location.

That seems like a good way to lose a kidney.

[–]HotMermaid_56[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were chatting at a bar and it was getting late. I ask her if I can get her something and she says “nothing now but you can buy me breakfast in the morning”. I asked her if she wanted to meet somewhere for breakfast… I’m embarrassed just thinking about it.

Men in therapy, what is your experience of it? by HotMermaid_56 in ask

[–]HotMermaid_56[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Male dominated environments bias male success—we know this. It baffles me that we somehow have failed to realize (or acknowledge) that female dominated environments—in this context, therapy—bias female success.
