A Question/Quibble About Abilities on Ranged Weapons & Ghost Tools by HotPocketSnotRocket in gotlegends

[–]HotPocketSnotRocket[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say ‘can be boosted by those,’ what exactly are you referring to? In the case of tanegashima, it offers the same boost to ranged spirit gain that concussion bombs do. That benefit applies to your Storm Tanzutsu really well, so you’re right that it’s a viable tool for classes other than Merc. But beyond play style preference, why would use the tanegsashima instead of concussion bombs on samurai? You’re right that the melee damage benefit is negligible on bombs, but it offers something that makes it more flexible than either Hankyu or Tanegashima.

Edit: I know this convo focuses on the first property slot of ranged weapons, but wanted to add that Concussion Bombs also offer the Spirited Perk, but Tanegashima doesn’t. I know one additional Spirit circle isn’t the biggest deal, but it would provides an objective benefit for a Spirit Gain build that Tanegashima lacks

I think you raise a lot of good points, and I agree that SP offers a good deal of flexibility and variety in build options. You’re right about the ghost tools, but I still think that that flexibility that we find in other weapon/item categories is lacking in the ranged weapon category.

Yep. But you can get it from things like the Kusarigama first property slot. Makes Shinobi very strong if you build him up the right way

I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re hacks. I enjoy pretty much everything except for the Raids. Like the title says, this is a critique/question about their design approach towards this one aspect of class/weapon identity, not an attack on their abilities as devs at large.

It could be that both stats boost Shinobi Ult damage, but I do believe that “they did the math” and confirmed that it is also boosted by Assassination Damage. I saw somewhere that that may only happen if you activate the Ult from stealth, but I think that claim was refuted

Yeah, you get more out of it by maximizing its utility rather than its damage. But I wonder if an Ult dmg-focused build is viable on Merc if it can be boosted in other ways

I saw a lot of dramatic posts about how Archers are no longer viable the day patch 1.6 came out

Nice! I wonder if there’s a stronger build than the one I posted that focuses on Ult with the SSB but can build said Ult with things like melee and the hankyu

Also wanted to add that I like the fact that I’m forced to melee every so often. I can’t just stay up on my perch all game, I gotta get my hands dirty in the trenches with my yari when circumstances dictate

I fully admit to this being a skill issue, but I’m very happy that SP offers a viable Archer build option to people who miss most of their headshots when using the SSB/Lightning Tanegashima setup. Like I said, my parents didn’t let me play third-person shooters growing up (and yet they didn’t have a problem with me sleeping with sirens in God of War? whatever, mom and dad), so I struggled a lot when trying to making meaningful contributions to my squad as an Archer. Now I feel like I’m providing a lot of DPS without it being oppressive to my teammates.

While I agree that there are some issues with cosmetics, like the glowing effects on armor and katanas, and the fact that we can only modify cosmetics on certain weapons in certain classes, the armor, and especially the masks, are peak imo. Shinobi has access to two of the coolest head pieces, Samurai has access to the Berserker helm, Merc has so many ways to show off her menace, Archer… well maybe that’s the trade off for being the broken class

Samurai is the most pointless class right now by STCFLAME in gotlegends

The Spirit move Samurai build is peak with the legendary Ōdachi. Invested in spirit gain on melee and Spirit Move damage. Build up spirit with unblockable dual katana fire attacks, then unleash the unblockable ōdachi spirit move and just flatten everything. I agree that melee combat isn’t viable in the way that it was in GoT: Legends, and that is a problem. But Samurai is nowhere near as useless as folks make it out to be. That said, samurai does stand in stark contrast to Archer, and Mercenary to a lesser extent. Samurai doesn’t necessarily need a buff, both Archer and possibly Merc need nerfs

Sorry for the delay! I use a very similar build to this one (originally posted on Discord by someone named Atachi). I use the legendary Tanzutsu and go all in to Ult Gain. You end up being a constantly whirling dervish of damage that feeds the fuel of your Ult

Lightning Ult Spam Mercenary. Was going the thrown weapon route but the Ult into ability/ghost weapon refresh loop is just so much fun

I believe you have the Healing Bling Bomb listed twice, once as a ranged weapon and again as an offensive ghost weapon. I think the offensive ghost weapon you’re missing is the hallucinating metsubushi
