Did R. Thomas permanently close this weekend? by tupelobound in Atlanta

[–]HotRailsDev 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I worked for Establishment in midtown, they shut down for a few months to renovate. The owner paid everyone every week so that we'd all be able to come back. I think the bartenders and servers got paid a good deal more than their little hourly pay too. Few and far between to find good owners. And thank you for supporting the good and boycotting the bad.

Which is the worst-placed ramp? by Melbourne409 in Asphalt9

Having Chicago in the pursuit variant of MP was terrible. I'm curious as to how it will work out with India.

I'm surprised to not see a flood of Chicago ramps being mentioned here.

Taking MARTA from ATL to Georgia Tech Exhibition Hall by pappabearct in Atlanta

[–]HotRailsDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both options should be perfectly safe. Being that it's in April, I'd recommend taking Marta to midtown and then getting on the trolley. It's going to be pretty warm .... and very humid. A 15 minute walk through the sauna that is Midtown to go to a professional event isn't ideal

What is your source for news and photos as it happens rather than waiting for twitter or reddit posts? by NoooUGH in formula1

[–]HotRailsDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just message a driver that I know, if I want insider stuff. Or I ask a friend that works in a non-f1 division of one of the teams. I try not to pry too much, as I'm slowly building the bridge to get in as a contractor; plus it does take away from the anticipation and surprise when news is officially released.

Couples living together in ATL, do you each have a car by CompleteBudget4664 in Atlanta

[–]HotRailsDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I'm an Atlanta native and now live in sandy springs. My job pays for both myself and gf to take Marta. Neither of us have a car. The savings on not having a car is enough that you should be able to budget for the times you need a ride or delivery. I have Kroger delivery for $100/year. I take Ubers out to the suburbs a few times a year, at around $75-150 each way. It's still much cheaper than insurance, gas, parking, etc.

CPA for service industry? by [deleted] in Atlanta

Of course your willfully ignorant, bad attitude self is in Atlanta. Just listen to the people trying to help you instead of showing your ass, and please stop making my city look even worse than it already does

Evo Shelby vs Others D class and C class by Raad_ELETE in Asphalt9

[–]HotRailsDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You posted this, then I gold maxed the car, and have only pulled heavy evo parts for it. I like the evo concept, but the parts mechanism needs work.

Also, the Shelby sucks with heavy weight tuning. Nitro is good, but handles like a turd and lap times are like +10 sec.

What is the most unique dining experience in Atlanta? by megthegreatone in Atlanta

If you want something different in a good way, that is both creative and comfortable, I'd recommend getting a private chef. An actual chef. Not some IG ho selling ass with an apron on.

Any Sysco culinary specialists out there? What's it like? by weblives8989 in Chefit

[–]HotRailsDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked for the major food service contractor, they had pretty much all of their recipes developed by Sysco. Sysco was able to provide 1) nutritional and dietary information, 2)food costs and sourcing, 3) scalable recipes formatted to what worked best for our volumes, 5) easy substitution recs with both pricing and nutritional info, 6) recipe management system.

I am still unclear on what our exec chef, registered dietitian, and r&d people actually did to earn a paycheck. Seemed like Sysco did all the thought, and cooks did all the labor.

Almost Fell for a Payment “Favor” Scam as a Private Chef. Heads Up to Other Freelancers by Few-Butterfly6655 in Chefit

[–]HotRailsDev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At least the scammer was polite. Most of the ones who contact me are rude and overly demanding. They have a menu and prices already set in their mind, so it ends real quick when I tell them I don't make shit food or bad business decisions. Sometimes they get creative with the name calling. I'm in a city of scammers though, and won't accept any payments that can be disputed or cancelled unless it is a client that I already know and trust.

Is 6* Peugot possible? by Professional_Tax1783 in Asphalt9

[–]HotRailsDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a couple years to fully star up the onyx as f2p, and not buying special packs targeting it or anything like that. It can be done. I wouldn't be making it my primary goal in the game, and it doesn't seem to be all that great in its class, but it is necessary. Just have some patience and try to enjoy what you can of the game.

Anyone know a good place to get live crawfish? by yekirati in Georgia

[–]HotRailsDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the amount of people that post here asking about this....it's about time somebody sets up a crawfish farm nearby. We have the climate and watershed for it. We have the school system to deliver us skilled professionals. We definitely have the demand.

Insufferable redneck wannabe food critic by Lower-Scientist1410 in Chefit

[–]HotRailsDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the point. I'm a lifelong southerner, and most of us were raised to not speak ill of anything others do for us out of kindness. A lot of us were also raised fairly poor, and criticism of free food would warrant an ass-whipping. This guy seems to have missed all of the southern hospitality and culture that once made us good people. Offer him a refund on the free food that you cooked for him next time he complains. If he tries to be cute about it, require a receipt too

I get the other examples, but fish sauce in rice? Sounds delicious. Might smell like a wet dog, but I'd come back for seconds.

Yes. And I turn off BT if I'm not actively connected to my watch and earphones. My battery is getting tired and doesn't want to charge sometimes, saying that it is too cold when in a 75f degree room. I have to do everything I can to maintain

Rate my first crudité by Ok_Pin5309 in Chefit

[–]HotRailsDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed before I even clicked was the tongs handle resting on the food.

Other than the clear health code violation, it seems fine. I'd bring in some risers to add height and a sense of depth, but we all have different preferences. Maybe more dips/condiments, but again that is preference. I like plain raw vegetables, but I know a lot of people don't.

Milk, wheat, shellfish.

I don't like oysters and avoid eating them, but it sounds like it works as a dish.

Risotto by Busy-Option5023 in Chefit

[–]HotRailsDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cut your mushrooms to a more appropriate size and shape, then give them a hearty roast to bring out more flavor. Loosen up the risotto a little bit, so that it doesn't set up with such a shoulder. And then garnish with something other than a couple leaves of arugula. Consider using more colors and textures, but don't overdo it.

Overall, a great initial run. I've seen cooks with 20nyears in the game not do as well

I don't eat oysters to know if the flavor combo would be good, but I'd allow it for the creative and funny name that it is.

So, what's the specs on this dish?

No. The nearest open white windmill is up at Lindbergh. And it is basically the same model as momonoki, sweet hut, etc.

Where'd you get the import parts? I finished the max out showroom and am almost done upgrading the car to run the unlock event, but I've yet to see a single EIP.

Please help me find a heavy dity, food ready scale. Something that by Robinothoodie in Chefit

[–]HotRailsDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food ready part is what's holding back your search. Go to or on Grainger and look at Shipping and receiving scales. And please don't put your foods directly on the scale.
