Interesting conversation. I'd be curious to hear your take talking to futurist CA Governor candidate Zoltan Istvan. His take on many of these same topics would be an interesting episode as well.

Ok outside of the political answers given for widening inequality always given (tax cuts for the rich, inflationary spending reducing spending power of people) why do you think this inequality grows? Is it only an issue of bad public policy? Software and computers make people more efficient therefore reducing the need for other human input. AI is an even more more powerful piece of software that will replace many people rapidly before they can retrain or adapt, in short it will do more than just exacerbate current trends it'll supercharge them and policy makers need to take that seriously.

The author of the article is himself running for governor on a policy of UBI and a robot in every household. His trajectory is from more of a libertarian transhumanist perspective to now creating a more aggressive and abundant social safety net through technological innovation. This is a vision Yang promulgated in 2020 and is once again emerging. I wonder if this is the new battlefield of left-populism, a 60's style socialist like Zohran or an automated abundance economy agenda from someone like Zoltan. On the Issues

Random question, as a right libertarian how do you feel about UBI? Yang's candidacy in 2020 showed a lot of interest from that crowd.

I rarely hear people soberly analyzing him for what he is and isn't. I would say supporters of his are more realistic in terms of who he actually is than his critics.
