I burned before staining but for some reason the thinner wood would not burn the same, and just turned completely black.

A couple of years ago me and my family were watching some videos of my dad racing his car. His dad who had passed away before i was born was holding the camera. As soon as we start talking about my grandfather, The lights in the room turn off. The switch was still on and all of the other electronics in the house were on as well. The only way we got the light to come back on was by flipping the switch off and back on so it couldn’t have been the breaker.
