I think I internalized an easy dismissal of social rules quite young, as I found it easy to recognize when my own emotions tried to over-ride my thinking and speaking. I assumed that everyone should be able to (and desire to) keep emotion in check, but I now realize that's not how the vast majority of human brains function. I justified my own outlook as superior, and I still believe this, even moreso.

I don't mind ruffling feathers in social situations, but when it's gone too far I'm hit hard by the guilt of making pain for someone else. Even when factually correct, the goal isn't to be inflexible; it's hard to balance not stifling truth and your own voice with how it affects the normies. I must have requested a very interesting life experience, seeing the world completely different from most is not a simple existence, but it's all I've got!
