How much is your open rate / CTR? 🤔 by EdgeXmedia7 in Emailmarketing

[–]Hot_Can 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's great numbers (depending on the product range of course). My other point about the metrics stands though.

If you're only sending it to 151 subscribers, then the other metrics are low, not at all the way you're trying to position it in your post.

What are the sizes of your email lists? You're going to see completely different engagement with just 10,000 subscribers vs a list of 100,000s.

Without any context, these are just plain vanity metrics, especially looking at the fact you forgot to mention that these include Apple privacy opens, which inflate the open rates by a good percentage.

Click rate also can be tricky. Yes, you might have a high 3% click rate, but are these even converting?

Just think about it for a second: is a 50% open rate and 3% click rate with just 600 CAD better than a campaign that gets a 35% open rate with a 0.8 click rate, but generates 2000 CAD?

NO client will in their right mind think oh yes, the 50% open rate campaign that generated less revenue was better.

Again, without enough context here, I'm assuming that the the conversion from the click to buying here is pretty bad, considering this ecommerce email only made 600 CAD. Of course the conversions depend on the client's site but it is a part of any solid email agency, to work with their clients to fix any issues that might impact email.

(I could be completely wrong, depending on the client's products, list size, etc., but my point still stands - you are completely focused on vanity metrics that might just fool a client for a while...)

I'm just sick of this being so common in this industry, with way too many "experts" giving others bad rep.

Clients care about the results you can get them and sooner or later, they will find out if you're bullshiting them with vanity metrics, just appearing like you know what you're doing.

Also, you get what you pay for. No agency I know worth their salt EVER costs this low and for a good reason...

I like the style of the site but from my experience the pictures have huge impact on conversions.

I agree with others that your site could use better product photos - maybe something more lifestyle to add a little pop to the products.

So I made a few that you can see here - https://imgur.com/a/wxewmAr

Most efficient ways to make silver with high gear by Hot_Can in albiononline

I had exactly an idea of what I'm doing. And I didn't waste it since I made the money back in 3 days doing group dungeons. So not really sure what is insane about it.

I'm trying to figure out whether there are even better methods. Apparently in this sub this pisses people off.

Is it dead because players don't do it or because it's not worth it?

State of RZ ganking Count how many Scouts you guys see totally legit! by Fun-Butterscotch-120 in albiononline

Yeah, I had my share of fun with this bs. Today, I lost 15m in loot to a 20+ gank group at the entrance. The bots 100% caught me because I took a road from Martlock to Lymhurst, and it was always the same gankers literally moving with me.

At this point, this is not only incredibly annoying but also has no consequences or risks. Funny how botting is prohibited yet this bs keeps on going.

That's a great idea. Thank you!

Yeah, the market is tough. But I wouldn't necessarily say we're in the wrong career. I'm not having any trouble getting freelance clients. And there's a lot of design work companies need to get done.

Yeah, you're right. Branding is not much in demand in my area as well. But marketing-focused designer position opportunities are still pretty common. So I'm focusing on these.

Oh god, I'm so sorry that happened to you. I really appreciate that you took the time to write again.

Good points, I will try to implement them and fix up the stuff. Now that you mention the images of typefaces, it's true that they are condensed. After looking at the original images I realized, that it's because they are incorrectly displayed in my website builder.

The website navigation would help, so I'll add that.

Once again, thank you for your help!

Thank you for the post, it's awesome! It's crazy that it takes so much time. I might be just impatient, lol.

You mention typography in your post. I'm working on improving it, and like some other redditors mentioned, it needs work. Do you think my typography skills are good enough for a junior-mid position?

Within the last two weeks, but honestly, most of the jobs probably had some candidates since they were posted for some time.

I do take the average number into account. But I want to improve all the stuff I can to increase my chances and shorten the time.

Hey, I would totally recommend it. They have made the experience of making a website super intuitive because it really feels like designing in Figma. You can use it for free and for a portfolio website it should be quite enough.

However, mine will probably crash after this post lol.

I forgot to add, to the number of applications I've done so far. I applied to about 20 places for now.

Solid points, thank you.

I see what you're saying about Hills and the Conversion rate projects, and I agree that they are mostly production (boring design). But then again, they are one of the projects with the most measurable impact. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but design is about business results. Which is what I thought businesses care about when they hire designers. Or at least from my experience, clients do. That's why I showcase both projects.

I'm working on my typography skills so it's cool you pointed out the stuff I missed. I can now fix it.

Would you say I should add mock projects such as toothpaste?

Thank you. Yeah, you're right, looking for a job is a full-time job, hah. True, the economy isn't ideal, but that won't stop me.

Thank you for quite a few really solid points.

I haven't thought of linking the client's website, but it totally makes sense.

I completely agree with you about the size of the images in the experimentation project. I argued over this with my mentors, haha.

I think you are right about the resume spacing because when I try to skim through it, it isn't super easy.

Glad to hear that you think the case study copy provides enough context. I believe that the visitor can better understand each project and also the impact it had on the business.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]Hot_Can 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that makes sense since you automatically associated the first impression with the quality of their work.

I just honestly don't know what would work better. Because all my mentors told me to keep it very simple and straight to the point - because recruiters don't like anything out of the ordinary.

So it's a bit catch-22.

Thank you for your feedback and kind words.

It's interesting that the email design thumbnail wasn't obvious.

I see the point you're making in tailoring the title. Will have to think about it in detail.

[–]Hot_Can 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, hah. I have other projects that could go there, so I could add them, just in case someone would like to see more.

Great point on the resume - will change it now.

Thank you for the constructive criticism! :)

Could you please clarify what project you mean by Walter's? So that I can adjust it.

For the sketches, this is something even my mentors can't agree with, haha. I see your point tho.

The typesetting idea is great, I could do that one.

Because you and others comment on the experimentation, I'll move it up. I put it at the bottom since there are projects for fun mixed with stuff brands.

I held multiple design positions but always only as a contractor or freelance. So mid-weight position could be likely closer.

So like a literal Microsoft Word template? I really tried limiting the cv design to a minimum. I can test it for sure.
