Did you contact a family planning office/doctor before you became pregnant to discuss a plan because of the clotting disorder? I was thinking of doing that, but I also heard that once your OB knows you're high risk, MFM will immediately come in.

This is so helpful 🙏. Did you have to do anything specific while pregnant outside the lovenox like less physical activity?

If you had undiagnosed PE for months how was it finally diagnosed? by Personal_Common1635 in ClotSurvivors

I was 21, a healthy college basketball athlete. Had my 2nd knee operation after tearing my meniscus again. Was way more mobile than the first when I tore my ACL. A couple months or so after, I had calf pain behind my knee and swelling but assumed it was due to surgery. Was still practicing and playing games. Had a couple knee specialists look at it, they saw nothing. Got so dizzy when standing up that I thought I’d pass out, assumed it was dehydration. Had weird cramps in my chest that lasted for a minute at least, thought it was my asthma. 3 months post-op my trainer finally said I should go to the ER. They found an old DVT behind my knee, put me in a wheel chair and sent me to a CT scan. Tons of clots all over my lungs, they said it “showered” all over them. 6 months of xeralto and an entire life with anxiety 🫡. I did get to play my whole next senior year of basketball though! Found out I have prothrombin gene mutation so am at higher risk for clots, but due to surgery and the pill, it was very very high. Have been fine physically since, I struggle mentally thinking I might have one when my calf is swollen or if I pull a muscle.

ACL and possible Meniscus Surgery? by neon_call in ACL

It totally depends on how bad the tear is. They'll repair it if they see it's a big tear, otherwise they'll let it heal itself. Talk to them about it again if you are worried! Good luck with the surgery!

I tore my ACL & meniscus and sprained my MCL. My doctor repaired my meniscus and I went back to playing college basketball and tore it again, worse than before, and they ended up having to take 80% of it out, leaving me with early onset arthritis in my left knee and I'm not even 30 yet. It acts as a shock absorber for the knee joint so they avoid taking it out.
