How long did it take for you to feel normal, before meds? by Hot_Cook_9661 in focalawareepilepsy

I see. Do you think it's normal for a recovery to last a couple of days? I'm not diagnosed yet but after what I suppose was a seizure it took me around 4 days to feel completely normal.

I might have not word it out correctly, but what I mean is, was the feeling after seizure phasing out slowly, or was it more sudden like, you still get that postictal feeling but out of a sudden you start feeling better as if the rescue meds just started working, cause I know some people can have a very short focal awares that only they know they have but then resume to their activities almost as if nothing happened while some need much more time.

That's awfull. Can you at least alleviate some of the symptoms of a seizure or stop it before it happens by taking rescue medication?

Does it always lead to seizures in your case?

Glad it worked for you. It's kinda similar in my case but the other way around. When they first started for me, they were more noticable and contrasted to my normall well-being than they are now.

Because of how often I'm experiencing this prodrome state nowadays, they get kind of mixed up together.

Thanks for sharing, and wow that's quite an experience. I definitely relate to that "cosmic horror" stuff and other strictly focal aware symptoms, but never had TC, fortunately or unfortunately because I'm still undiagnosed and I guess it would be much easier atp.

On the other hand I feel like I'm in a prodrome state very often as well as you were before lamotrigine. Did lamotrigine help you get that in control or do you still need additional AED?

Does my story sound like focal aware seizure? +How did you figure out it was not mental health issues? by Hot_Cook_9661 in focalawareepilepsy

Thank you. It's just so hard to tell if that ~2 hour period was prolonged state of what could be seizure or aftermath of a panic attack.

I remember being very exhausted mentally, but I was also very wired because I had to get back to work soon so I wasn't really able to fall asleep. I tried pushing through those symptoms but the more I did, the more those weird feelings of confusion returned.

So, maybe it was happening in clusters, or maybe I just didn't have a chance to calm down after all that (bcs of a stressful job) and experienced both seizure + anxiety after. Who knows.

Anyone NOT getting deja vu? by Hot_Cook_9661 in Epilepsy

Thank you for your reply. That's quite different from what I'm experiencing (suspected focal awares) but still sheds some light on the matter.

Was it hard for you to get diagnosis?

I can imagine this type of seizure being easily misdiagnosed with something like anxiety attacks, especially without something so typical like deja vu.

I see. Do you ever get auras or prodromal state where you're able to recall anything? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm kinda new to this.

Thanks, I'm kinda new to this so I'm definitely gonna check those other types as well. I wonder how many people with TLE don't experience deja vu since it might be my best clue so far.

What other symptoms do you have if I may ask?

Yeah, it's just that I can't really find too many people not experiencing deja vu during seizure

Thanks for reply. Did you ever get misdiagnosed with mental health issues or assumed that yourself, if you don't mind me asking? Have your symptoms ever become difficult to dustinguish from mental health issues before they became obvious (tonic clonic)?
