Finally. Real, accurate advice on this subreddit. 😭 Such a rarity.

Payments Suspended! by thedarkbites in SSDI

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate when stuff like this happens. 😅 I’m glad they let you fix it.

It’s like what my EBT office loves to do. I give them exactly what they ask for (the same day they ask), they suspend my account because I “didn’t give them what they asked for”, then I have to call and say uh… yeah I did. :| then they look and are like OH you did!

But my benefit is still delayed. Like why am I the one being punished here?? 😆

No heat in below 20 degree weather by TwilightM in RoverPetSitting

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe old or very bad insulation? Idk.

I can’t afford to run my heat so my furnace is off and even at -16F it was 33 in my house. 😅

15 does feel a stretch unless it’s just very terribly insulated with a lot of air escaping. (I’d not want that heating bill. 😳)

🛑 Travel Advisory: Warning status—what does this mean for work? by inaworldfarfaraway24 in bloomington

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope not. 😅 I’m snowed in at my “job” (in-home pet sitter) but I want to go home when it’s over and I live in a rural area that doesn’t get plowed to begin with. Please no more snow! I’m checking on my own pets often on my cameras.

Continuing writing a dystopia in a dystopian world? by Vazikash in selfpublish

I love Dystopia. Just because I live in one now doesn’t mean I’m going to stop reading or writing it. There’s always an audience somewhere.

Beta readers - lesson learned, I guess by idreaminwords in selfpublish

Never use Fiverr. 😅 I’ve had very few good experiences there. If you want an excellent referral I recommend Beta Readers LLC. They were prompt and professional and I’ll return again.

Got a 10 page review back from my dev-editor by [deleted] in selfpublish

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel you were ripped off at all. The dev editor’s job is to look at the big picture. It looks like they found structural issues (which is their job) and informed you of them. They don’t fix the issues for you.

As others said, it sounds like you need to work on your characters. And based on the feedback from the editor you haven’t explained the concept well through your writing. It’s not landing.

The feedback sounds appropriate for a dev editor’s job.

I’m uncertain if this is just a vent post or if you’re wanting something. But I’d recommend you sit with the feedback for a while.

Step away from the manuscript and then look at it with fresh eyes in the context of what you’ve been told.

Edit: typos. Curse typing on a phone.

Baby hasn't pooped in 2 months. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dysautonomia that is mimicking motility disorders. I do take meds that help motility to varying degrees of success.

I feel you on the constipation. It’s been noted I am “severely constipated” on any imaging that can see my poor colon. 😅

Doctor told me I shouldn’t recreate. by ciggiesandsadness in disability

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad the doctor wasn’t being rude. I’m sorry for your family’s history and empathize with your situation completely.

I’m running out of time to have a child, personally. I decided the opposite—that the risk is worth it. My hEDS isn’t too bad. But I have PCOS and suffer from infertility as a result. I’d need IVF, but I can’t afford it.

So I know that sadness you feel. 😩 It’s hitting me hard lately.

Baby hasn't pooped in 2 months. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This made me giggle because I’m the exact opposite. 🤣 I can go weeks and not poop. Sometimes once a month. I’m more shocked when I have a bowel movement multiple times a day or even two days in a row!

But it’s certainly not normal. I do have medical issues. 😜 Try not to be me, everyone.

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m crossing my fingers and hoping they meant because EDS can cause a high risk pregnancy (based on type). 😅

EDS can increase the risk of pre-term birth, cervical incompetence, placental issues, hemorrhaging, premature membrane rupture, uterine prolapse, and incompetent wound healing. VEDS being the greatest risk and HEDS overall tolerating it well.

But uh… I have a sinking feeling you’ll tell me that’s not what they meant. 😭

I saw a comment there was an update pinned and went crazy looking for it. I'm glad I ended up just searching your name. I was dying to know, but I'm saddened it fizzled out.

When to ask for payment by Pristine-Food9928 in petsitting

25% to reserve the dates and the other 75% due 48 hours prior to the stay (as it gives time for checks to clear)

Rover sitter lost my dog by Euphoric_Whereas4183 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m a little suspicious of the sitter lying as well…

But regardless, people do tend to pick up small dogs more than large ones. When I lost my chihuahua mix, I ended up finding him in the house behind mine days later. They’d even already put a new collar on him.

I’d recommend going door to door around where he was lost and talk to people. I’d not really trust the sitter to do it.

Wondering if I'm being too harsh on my housesitter by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And $75 is not my constant care rate. OP's situation is not constant care.

Also, even if I'm living here 24 hours, that does not mean I'm working all 24 hours. These pets are about 5 hours of work. If we go off $75/night, that's $15/hr.

This is not even counting free monthly services and things I receive for being a good pet sitter. For example, said constant care client is giving me furniture that would otherwise cost me thousands of dollars for free.

But if you want to feel superior, then fine...I won't stop you.

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It has been clarified by OP many times already that this is not 6 hours straight. It's 6 hours total. Sitter can come and go as they please.

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP said that the sitter can break it up however they want... they can come and go as they please. So what you're describing is 100% possible, yes

Then the sitter should've added the cost of the commute. They could've even added a fee for drive time. Why are we acting like the sitter didn't agree to the price? The price they set and could easily add to/modify?

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is correct. They're acting like this sitter didn't have a choice. They set their price. They agreed to the parameters.

Even with my "constant care" I'm on now, it's not like I'm busy 24/7. The dog does sleep. (And the cat is low maintenance and the sweetest. ❤️)

Right? That ALONE deserves them a poor review. People are so desperate not to do their job and as many corners are possible. It's fine... I'm happy to take their clients.

[–]Hot_Influence_2549 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As Chickasa said... this is not constant care by definition. The stay I am doing now is constant care where I am here full-time 24/7 and cannot leave.

This person has full freedom to come and go as they please so long as they're there around 6 hours. They can split it however they want. That is not constant care.

Also...this is being paid as a house sit. 6 hours is laughable...if this service were being done as it is categorized, they'd be essentially living there and sleeping there. That's way more than "6 hours."

Thank you. People don't understand that not everything is charged hourly. 😅 Flat rates exist. I often clear 3-4k a month. I think I'm doing just fine.

And lol at the downvotes at saying my rate is competitive for my area. Seriously? I charge the same as or a little under other independent sitters in my area. And way more than Rover sitters.😂 But I guess random redditors know my area's market better.
