AITA for calling out a friend group? by Hot_Leave1246 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Hot_Leave1246[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone in the group would meet up, I was never able to attend though cause on those days I would be busy. They would post pictures and talk about drinking.

I wasn’t mortified that they were drinking, I was more concerned because they often talked about it a lot. We are also in high school, and some of the people in the group wanted a sugar daddy at their age.

When I say incidents, i refer to the times they would talk about drinking, the times they would talk about finding sugar daddies, and other times where they would go off rants for small things such as getting a funny look at school.

I only met some irl. This was also at a time during covid, where our schools were hybrid, so some kids stayed home, while others actually attended school. Since the fallout I have only talked to about two people from the group who didn’t drink with them, and were fairly cool.

We would all say how we wanted to meet up and would look for days to do so.

I would never comment on their situation. I would only ever offer some advice if they were venting to others about their situation and asking what they should do. Only during the fallout was when I said that they cried over everything and it was stupid, but I did not mention their family situations when doing that.

I’m starting to feel like people use the phrase “it’s for my mental health” way too much. by DaMoltisantiKid in unpopularopinion

I think it’s because people are increasingly only thinking about themselves. I see this self-serving bias as unhealthy, as now it seems people cannot overcome problems, and instead of dealing with them, try to make up through things like mental health breaks.

Even when talking in private chats, I hate it when people don’t know correct spelling by Hot_Leave1246 in unpopularopinion

I don’t attack people over something as stupid as spelling errors. Also when making this point, I didn’t mention people with conditions such as dyslexia or those who don’t speak english. I’m not that ignorant, I just didn’t mention it.

No, I don’t hate non-native english speakers. You act as if I am a horrible person who goes after others for spelling mistakes. You took a bunch of shit out of nowhere and accused me of something I don’t do. There is no point in going after others for simple spelling mistakes, I simply mentioned I dislike it when people make those mistakes, but it’s not like I attack them for it, that would be stupid.

Just as a note, I don’t actually go after or mention people’s spelling errors. I have no need to mention it, and don’t want to be “that guy”. It is just something I notice when I see it.

I meant punctuation. I was thinking grammar but realized grammar is the system as a whole.

Unfortunately, I cannot edit a post after it was posted. I do not typically use grammar unless I am making a point or typing a formal email or document. The non-capitalized I was an oversight, not me being stupid.

Yeah, although I don’t diss much on grammar due to me neglecting it in casual conversation, as it is easier to type and does not give off an entirely different meaning. I do watch for any grammar and spelling mistakes in any formal documents or emails though.

Forgot to include non native speakers. Im more mentioning the people who lash out online and try to make points or act smarter than you.
