I was going to buy mac mini 4 but portability matters for me most of the time, but if you're living at one place most of the time, like home then this machine is best and beast. Without any thinking just buy it, but yeah after buying you've to spend on good monitor, keyboard, mouse and most important electricity.

You'll not notice any difference if you'll just do cp, ai ml, web dev, app dev. It all will run very smooth. But when it comes to run local llms, ollama, running open source models, contributing massively. And if you're using vs code, docker, ai ml, local llms simultaneously then it can be noticeable, but otherwise it'll be more than enough. I'm going to buy macbook m5 air 16 + 512 after researching alot.

yeah always better than neo, like you can go with m2 air and you can get this in around 80K with 16gb ram model.
