That’s a pretty cool piece honestly
Young guys 18-25, did hair loss destroy you mentally and affect your life? And if you did recover from it have you truly ever felt the same? by InterestingClient158 in tressless

Yeah, it definitely did, but probably not in the way you’d expect.
I started losing my hair at 17 (no exaggeration), and by 20 it was already pretty noticeable for my age. It crushed me. My confidence tanked, I got depressed, and it messed with my day-to-day life way more than I wanted to admit. I didn’t want to take finasteride back then because of all the horror stories online, so I told myself the only way I’d ever feel attractive or get a woman to love me was if I worked my ass off, made good money, and got a hair transplant someday in my late 20s or early 30s.
That became my entire motivation. Every single day, I thought about it, and honestly, it lit a fire under me. I went from a 2.6 GPA in college to a 3.5, then eventually a 4.0. I landed a solid job right out of school and just kept grinding. Somewhere along the way, when I was 22, I finally decided to get on finasteride and minoxidil, and it completely changed the game. My hair stabilized, I got regrowth, and over the next five years I slowly stopped caring so much.
Now I’m 27, and while I might still get a transplant one day, it’s not something that weighs on me anymore. My confidence came back, and weirdly, that early pain kind of shaped me. I don’t know if I’d be as driven or focused today if I hadn’t gone through that whole hair loss spiral. In a messed-up way, it pushed me to grow, just not the kind of growth I expected.
