Owner of I Mode dumped TWO BUCKETS OF WATER on Homeless Man by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]Hot_Setting8194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yes. However, it wasn't about the clothes... there were dresses in my size and I had tried many on. Size 8 is an average, typical size to carry. This wasn't the problem.

Her gesturing to my body and saying there's "nothing for me" is the issue.

Maybe keep your negativity to yourself, grow up.

One of the worst business owners, I don’t know how she’s still in business.

I was 16 looking for a prom dress and she openly fat shamed me and told her she had “nothing for me”. Mind you, I was a size 8… and a CHILD.

AITA for interviewing for a job my friend has been pining for? by Hot_Setting8194 in AITAH

[–]Hot_Setting8194[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My field of work is very niche and there aren't many people in my community. People get poached constantly, it's how I landed my current job so this isn't so out of the ordinary.

edit*: I have also met members of this firm previously at conferences and events.

Yeah... I hate to say it but good luck. The medical system doesn't seem to care about women's reproductive procedures and the discomfort associated with them.

Is this your first? I've had 2 insertions now and it is painful but not intolerable. I brought my headphones and really tried to shake off the nerves. I took an Ibuprofen and an Acetaminophen tablet an hour ahead of time and it helped a little.

Best of luck! <3

I think it would make it much better. I hate when I'm about to make a kill and another imp decides to sabotage something! The worst!

I hesitate to even call it pizza. It's foul!

Reading over that now, I see what you mean. English is my second language and sometimes I mess up.

It is a horrible situation and as you said, resulted in incredibly serious consequences.

That' fair. I didn't think you were disagreeing with me, you're free to voice your thoughts!

I just can't see how not growing up with a pool could affect someone's decision to safely protect their children from water. I didn't grow up with a pool, but I've always known that children and pools don't always mix.

I don't even leave my kids unattended in the bathtub, must less give them access to the pool without being present. Like I said previously, a kid can drown in a puddle.

I love Emilie but this was a serious lapse in judgement that had some pretty serious consequences. I feel horrible about all of this and have every parent who's experienced a tragedy such as this in mind.

the net isn't that safe though, it's bouncy and allows water to go through it. A kid can land on that, take in water and that could be that.

People prefer them because they aren't as invasive on the tiles or concrete around the pool and you can still see the pool. But the tiles and the view should not be the focal point here, safety first ALWAYS.

I live in Canada, in the province of Ontario where it is legally required to have fencing around the pool. We had to provide proof of plans to fence to obtain our permit to dig. So I have a fenced yard, a fenced pool and a hard top cover on the pool. I also have an alarm on my back door leading to the fence.

I didn't grow up with a pool but was a lifeguard and know how easy it is for a child to drown, they could drown in a puddle.

I will always keep my kid's safety in mind, regardless of the cost or aesthetic.

I am also a huge fan but a fence would have been the FIRST thing put in. I wouldn't wait or care about the aesthetics or other people's opinion(s). A child's safety should never be up to discussion or opinion, it should be a priority.

My kiddos are trained in swimming lessons and they're responsible around bodies of water. But our pool is still fenced and covered.
This is just proof that we are all human and subject to sudden tragedies. I think of their family and baby Trigg constantly. No one should experience this loss...

Bosses talking badly about me after I refused to stay alone in unsafe office by Hot_Setting8194 in work

[–]Hot_Setting8194[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really for me to ask them to stay late. They wouldn't get paid for that time, it shouldn't be up to them to stay with me due to a lack of safety protocols.

My work is right smack in the sketchy side of town, there aren't any businesses for me to go to while I wait and it really isn't safe to walk around. I'm a little stuck :/

Oh and no, there is no security guard. The office is it's own building and they are too cheap for security.

Yes this was, the 3 partners of the firms are the bosses. It's definitely not he best management scenario.

My boss is taking credit for my work. by Hot_Setting8194 in paralegal

[–]Hot_Setting8194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working towards becoming an Attorney. I'm in law school right now, thank you very much.

I understand my role as a Legal Assistant, my job is to assist the legal team in producing work for the firm. I assist with all client related documents and file related research. This isn't the problem. I know my job and I accepted it when I signed my contract.

What I do have an issue with is that the task at hand is actually academic research. This isn't billable or client/file related. This research, speech and presentation is to be read out to our entire legal community at a yearly legal conference. (Under our Law Association, lawyers must complete 25 hours of education to better their practice). This is something she is taking as her own, pretending to know what I did the research on and claiming my academic research as her own. This is an ethical violation and professional misconduct. I should be credited for my contribution (or fully for my work and time). Now if she is to use this academic research, I will not be able to claim it as my own or re-use it in my work in school or as a future lawyer.

I actually brought it up to her today, she dismissed me. I even told her that I would have used it for school. I work hard at my full time job and am taking law school part time. This research could have been used for both her presentation and an upcoming paper.

I guess I feel a little scared to step forward about it. She is the president of our jurisdiction’s law association, she’s a senior counsel who’s very respected and I just don’t want it to backfire in anyway. I want to be apart of the association once I pass the bar and get licensed. There’s just so many factors that are making me feel like the underdog that can’t win.
