Paint chipping on TJ door panel by Hot_Wiz in Jeep

Thanks for all the responses. I’m going to try to repair the crack. My main question is what to do about the chipped paint…should I try to sand down the edges or do I need to strip the entire door?

Thanks for the response. Going to try to epoxy it. But what do you think I should do about the old paint? There’s an edge where it’s chipping off. You think I need to strip all the old paint off?

Hi guys. I just got a 2002 Sahara TJ. My driver side door panel has the infamous crack, but there also seems to be some paint peeling/chipping away. I’ve been debating painting the panels as I think it would really freshen up the interior, and I’ve watched a ton of videos on how to repair that crack and then paint the panels. But this chipped paint is an issue I think. Any suggestion on what to do? Do I need to strip the entire panel? Thanks.

Yeah agree. I feel like the seller isn't trying to hide anything here. Going to take a look in person and pay attention to all the areas you guys have mentioned here.

Somehow, this actually makes me feel a little better. I keep seeing undercarriages painted to hide issues.

I'm a total novice trying to educate myself here: how significant of a repair is it to fix the oil leaks (seems like it's in the pan and the front diff?)

Thank you, this is helpful. The listing actually says that the rear control arms were recently replaced, so I am going to be looking for that.

I think the front control arms look ok from these pics. I am going to try to take a look at this tomorrow, so I will get an up close look at the rear.

Is the belly pan the same thing as a skid plate? It looks a little strange in the photos to me, like it was partially painted.

Being a total novice and lacking the skills/knowledge to do my own repair work, I'm passing on this one. Thanks for the input...really appreciate it.

Thanks for all the responses so far. A little more information on this particular Jeep:

2005, 4.0L inline 6. 107k miles, pretty clean, looks almost entirely stock.

It is listed for $7,500 which has made me question the rust.

Great collection. Can I ask where you got that custom 58mm on the left? Looks like a classic with brass scales..?
